Default Thanks for the help. Ordered a V1

Hello fellow geeks. I wanted to drop a thread to thank everyone for all the great reading and advise. Im addicted now. I bought a Solo 2 a while back on 3bay and wanted to learn about it so I found this forum. Boy did I learn about it. I listed and sold it the same day I recieved the paper weight in the mail. Got lucky and made $40 since I bought it for only $150. Anyway, I spent the next month reading everything about everything. Went back and forth between Redline, 8500, X50 and a few others. I choose the V1 simply because I wanted something SOLID. I know I will want to ask a few questions when I set it up but I will search before ask something that has been covered.

I do have 2 questions for yall If you dont mind........

    1. I read one post saying "expect to send it back for repairs every year or two. True?

    2. Also, I read as many POP threads as I could but could not figure out if I should use it in my area. (Greenville/Spartanburg S Carolina)

    Thanks! Happy Easter

First of, welcome to the club. Wise choice of equipment.

The V1 is pretty reliable, I've had mine for 5 years with no issues.

Not sure about POP in your area, it depends if they use POP capable units, I would leave it on for now.

As far as bands go, if X-band isn't used in your area, you can shut it off.

Do some research about K-band, some departments use them since the equipment is more affordable than the newer Ka-bands systems.

Make sure you leave Ka and laser on.

Read the manual and learn the local trap spots in your area.

You will love the arrows. They pay for the detector alone. Remember to make some adjustments to it, because it tells you every radar signal within a 3 mile radius.

Just don't let V1 or any other radar detector bake in the hot sun, remove it from the vehicle when possible.

Yea, I like the case but I carry a small leather waterproof bag with my GPS, stereo, radar and Scanguage in it. Guess it a "man purse." The V1 case is just too big for me. I think I will get a small camera case. I dont leave anything in my rig. Alot of bandits breakin into vehicles here lately. I do want the remote display. Thanks for the recommendation.

They kept saying it's the arrows and bogey counter - after I got one I now know what they mean. It really grows on ya - and agree about the CD.
