Guys I need some opinion as to what might possibly be going on with my V1.
The Unit is a 3.872 which is 1.5 weeks new with KA GUARD= On & POP= Off when the J out happens. With KA GUARD= off the V1 holds onto the signal for the entire pass. Alos worth mentioning there is another KA speed sign about 3 miles before/after depending on approach which my V1 detects with any of the above settings and it experiences no weirdness.
Here is the scenario leading up to the J out: the KA speed sign is on the South bound side of the highway. Upon my approach in the North bound lane the V1 picks up the signal on the front antenna briefly, as I pass the sign it indicates the side arrows and then to the rear as I complete the pass. It remains on the rear for the next ½ + miles or so with no issues. On the approach of the sign on the Southbound side of the highway, the V1 picks up the signal at roughly the same distance where the rear antenna signal drop-off occurred. It holds on to the signal and begins the normal ramp up for the next 6~8 seconds and then it J’s out the signal.
I’m aware of the FM-CW modulation that can possibly cause no signal detection, but what confuses me is WHY do the various approach causes the inconsistencies with detection with this one speed sign? The first thing that came to mind was maybe the speed sign is drifting out of tune, but if this is so, why would the other side of the highway experience no issues? The only other thing worth mentioning is that the sign is directly across Philly ball park.
I know I can send in my unit for a replacement or check up, but am I worrying too much? The unit seems to fine with all other KA signal detection.
BTW my last thorough multi-pass tests were done at 11:30pm~12:30am. There were definitely no cars around with junky detectors which could possibly skew the response of the V1 as well.
