Default visor mounts vs. other methods of mounting

This thread is intended for people who are new to V1s (welcome!) or for people having a hard time deciding how to mount their V1. I'm not going to review all the options. I just want to share my mounting option, which I think is pretty unique, although I could be wrong.

A buddy of mine has the mount that attaches around the rear view mirror which seems to work well, however leaves it below the RVM (rear view mirror). I prefer to have my V1 as high as possible.

I'm not sure whether this will work in all cars, but I don't see why not. To the new owners of V1, don't be afraid to experiment a little bit. I tried many different mounting options before settling with something I was happy with.

When I first got my V1, I thought that the visor mount wasn't really useful. I kept it in the car though, and one day decided to experiment with it. I stuck the clip of the visor mount in between the roof and headliner. After wiggling it around a bit to get it perfectly seated, it proved to be an extremely secure mount that didn't move around much.

This may or may not work with all cars, depending on how stiff the headliner is against the roof. The one in my Civic Si was pretty soft, which made it easy to insert the clip portion into the gap. I loved this setup. In addition to a secure mount, it also proved to save my V1....

I got in an accident that pretty much totaled the car. It rolled twice, airbags deployed. It wasn't a pretty picture. I'll post it someone wants, otherwise just use your imagination.. After rolling twice and staggering out of the car, I was amazed to find my V1, still mostly in position, but shifted a few degrees. If I had a suction cup mount, I may have lost my V1 in addition to my car. My V1 luckily escaped unscathed.

Sorry for the bad picture, it's the only I could find. It gives you an idea of how it was mounted though. This was a slightly older setup. I eventually moved it over to the driver's side. My passengers were getting tired of not being able to use the mirror.

I think I covered most of the details, but feel free to ask me if you have any question on how to mount your V1 like this.

    I made something like this,
    radr.JPG

however I've been reading that locating the v1 on the lower side of windscreen and in vertical position seems to be alot more effective..I'll let you guys know.

Looks like there's too many objects obstructing direct view of the V1 to the roadway. I wouldn't recommend using this application. It looks be be directly obstructed by your rear view mirror/window decor. The best non windshield mounted application I've seen is the mount for under the rear view. I'm sure someone will be able to elaborate more.
