    Default Well...here it goes...

So I took my V1 down with me to Maryland on Mother's day. I wasn't driving but I heard Maryland is notorious for speed traps so I figured I'd bring it along in the car I was riding in. We get to our destination and not a single radar encounter besides Walgreens . When we park I take my V1 down and wrap it in my hoody to conceal it, I don't care if I'm in the middle of nowhere, I never leave my gadgets out. So I come back to the car to grab my hoody because it was cold (forgetting my V1 was wrapped in it) with my little brother screaming and kicking me . My little brother then manages to wiggle his way away from me and I grab my hoody and start to run after him. You can prolly guess what happens next....CLUNK! I'm like ****, there's $400 down the drain thanks to my dumb ass. I picked it up, inspected it and it only appeared to have cosmetic damage. It didn't take a hard fall but it did fall. I'm afraid some detection may have been affected by it. I have a video of it vs a K-band speed sign the same day after it happened. Is this the typical detection range for C/O K-band? Someone put my mind at ease...

That's pretty good range you got there. I get alerts about that range on those K-band speed signs.

No bad for those type of signs. Most of those signs have been beat to hell. Also get a case for the V1, $20 will save you $400.

Around a curve like that it seems you got pretty good range. I doubt you did any damage at all.

If you take it down all the time get a case as suggested.

Steady, these devices are manufactured against certain standards and dropping devices is part of daily life. I'm sure Mike's standards are above and beyond what you might expect. Regardless, if you are concerned, send it back to them and permit them to verify it's still working at 110%.

    Enjoy

If you send it in then that would ease your mind and who knows they might not charge you anything.

    +1.

Steady, you make no mention of what vintage your unit is. I'm under the impression that the older units DO need a tune-up every few years. The newest units do not.

I sent my 3.818 unit in last year...it was clearly off and not from being dropped. I sent it back, and they worked their magic and returned it within a few days. I don't think they charged me anything, but the unit was definitely off.

Your V1 is working just fine... a broken V1 will work something like this (or worse):

(This is the longest K-detection it had in a month)... if you can ignore the horrible video quality... you can see where I pause it... is where you can see the LEO and they start to pick-up speeds on cars coming around the bend:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ng7Op4ewhs]YouTube - Horrible V1 detection to K-band CCountySheriff[/ame]

Your V1 seems just fine... when you STOP your video at ~30seconds into the alert... you are farther away then I am when I stop it maybe ~4seconds into my alert (where he can get my speed).

If you are worried... I would agree send it in. Your RD is there to help give you a little piece of mind, not worry you.

Yeah... when you start getting detections like mine to C/O K-band as THE BEST you see, over a fair length of time and your V1 is missing your usual false alerts... and nearly every Ka seems like I/O...

Your V1 IS THEN broken, many people send them in without reason...

My video is perfect (albeit grainy) proof of a V1 with one antenna in the grave, and the other on a banana-peel.

I find it funny now... it is humorous that my V1 has had more down-time than working time at this point.

    Your V1 seems fine.
