Thumbs down VR attempted to charge me $90/repair

I recently sent in my V1 3.826 for repair due to it lossing the 35.5 signal going directly towards the 35.5 radar gun. Swamp can attest to this as it was in his vehicle. So I sent it in ($45 charge) and was informed by the technician that all radar bands tested out fine but they did change out a couple of transistors. I get it back and the V1 still makes me a little weary about it's working condition so I call VR and ask them if I can send it back in for a "thorough) check up a second time and the cs rep informs me their will be another $45 charge for sending it back to them. A little shocked to see how VR treated me on the phone as I have three V1's. Like one of their cs reps informed me in the past, "sir, it doesn't matter if you have fifty V1's, we can't give you a tour of VR". Whatever happened to customer service folks? Even for the V1, I guess we can only get so much out of the "benchmark" rd. Very shocked!

Though your concern is valid and should be covered from the 1st service, a service department isn't going to keep fixing something that an individual is "a little weary" about at no charge. Its just not practical.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. You asked for service twice and they asked to be paid twice. That makes sense to me.

Are you sure it lost the signal or did the cop potentially turn the gun off?

I would not resend it, just test it out, typically the first time it should be tuned and ready to go.

I see the point here, if you pay for a repair the first time and the device isn't working as it should, you shouldn't pay for another repair.

Personally, I would just upgrade to a 3.872 (In lieu of paying for all the repairs), you get brand new circuitry, warranty etc.

I sent mine back several times and it didn't work properly until I got the 3.872 upgrade. Since that was done, it's been outstanding.

If they didn't fix it the first time then they need to make it right.

Is there any chance that the detector informing you of 35.5 triggered the V1's filtering? I know the emmissions tend to jump when a detector locks onto a signal. Horns too close together and it may have done a J-out without idicating as such.
