Dumb. I guess he never heard of a CD. Plus, if something goes wrong with the V1 and it needs to be sent in, no warranty anymore and he'll have to pry it out of the mold he made.
Some interesting ideas, but ultimately a failed outcome in my eyes.
Very cool, but I would imagine it decreases range somewhat.
I thought the V1 was still very obvious on the rear headrest like that TBH .
I did like the mute button idea though. Having it on the steering wheel like that could be useful but he could have bought a remote mute switch on ebay for $10 which would have been a lot easier.
That is pretty stupid. All that work and it will still bake in its "oven".
too much work
too little return
add to that the potential of compromised performance . . . .
Given all the hours of R&D and execution into this project;
contrasted by how long it takes to remove a V-1 from an over the RVM install(seconds) . . .
how many years will it take to balance this amount of time ?
while it (as stated) bakes in the sun, and can't be gracefully moved to another vehicle [another vehicle won't have the necessary/complimentary hardware]
IMHO - really classy fail
Interesting, but an overkill, no more warranty. Mounting position decreases radar reception.
I would have mounted it from the rear ceiling, route an 8 ft cord up the front as well as the power and use the concealed display on the bezel.
It look steath but overkill.
Well, you can certainly tell he is not one of us on here.
The install has an exceptional novelty factor... a truly 1-off custom install... and it is 'good' work (though I don't like the goofy look on the rear seat)... it simply introduces far too many variables for me to be comfortable with ever running a set-up like that.
I like all my countermeasures installs to be as simply as possible... it can never be turned back now... imagine if there is a tiny issue with the unit (it continually power-recycles for example)... he would have SO MUCH extra BS to troubleshoot it just isn't worth it. Or (as aforementioned)... it needs to be fixed.
I think when he encounters his first issue where he has to troubleshoot... he will find he has created a larger hassle than he bargained for.
