    Default V1 effectiveness in PA

I'm waiting on my V1 to arrive, but have recently read here on the forums about PA using VASCAR, which seems old and ENRADD, along with various other bands of radar.

Are there any other users here from PA that can comment on how effective the V1 is in the state?

I've collected a handful of tickets over my years, each time the LEO noted I was hit with radar, which was the deciding factor for a V1. Hopefully a V1 will eliminate an future encounters .

The V1 is one of the few dectectors that will help your odds of no speeding tickets. With the low-powered radar guns the State Police any other cheaper detectors would be just about useless.

Only Pa State Police are allowed to use radar and radar only. So the V1 will only help with PSP. Any other LEOs use pacing, VASCAR, and ENRADD.

I've had my V1 for about 4 months. I've only encountered 1 State Trooper and he was using a low-powered K-Band gun. It all depends on where you are. I don't see many State Troopers, but they mainly stick to the highways, which I don't travel too often. If you want any chance of avoiding a radar ticket then you need a V1.

V1 will pay for its self on interstates and the turnpike.

Thanks for the tip, this is good to know. Every time I've been hit, it's been PSP, nothing local.

There are a few stretches of road that I commonly drive on, and the one stretch has a state police barracks on it; sometimes they don't like to travel far from home. I've seen them enough to know a handful of their hiding spots, but I want to be ready for when they switch it up

I go to school in PA and I only drive the highways there. It has served me well vs the PSP and the drones placed on the highways. I haven't run into the low power handhelds yet.

Yea your range will be reduced. You will need a V1 or M3 based Escort to have a fighting chance.

Any idea what sort of range we're talking about or somewhere to find out?
