Concealed Display modding :)

Hey guys, I'm planning on making my CD thinner. I know people have done it, but I'm going to make my own progress thread. here is what I have so far:

Are you intending to put this inside the gauge cluster?

I wish some car manufacture would build a gauge cluster with this already, that would be neat.

Maybe they can also build a bumper pre made spaces for transponder heads.

No, just going to solder directly a telephone cable and make an enclosure in the back.

Cool project and good pics

Just an FYI for CD modders. It's pretty simple to dremel out the back of the case and bend the phone jack to the rear. The cord sticking out the side bugged the sh!t out of me...

How do you intend on closing the back-end of the exposed Concealed Display(CD)? If you intend to make something, could you document it (or make one for me please?) EDIT: Let me know how making the enclosure goes!

I too would be interested in making a thinner CD. I have tools to solder, but I don't have the necessary tools (apart from a file and a jackknife) to mold/shape plastic.

Yea, magically I'm going to TRY to fabricate a new backing.

My first step will be to take out the power jack and manually solder in one end of a phone cable (probably 2 feet long) and then I can plug that into a telephone cable extender so you can use as long of a cable that you want to route it anywhere.

Then after that I might try to find the same type of plastic or similar and maybe gorilla glue it together to make the backing (of course leaving a tiny hole for the power cable)
