If you look closely in my video you will see the mute button i got. My concern was the button getting wet so the one i got is sealed.
No problems with it muting on the first press, however the remote volume from VR is a bit slow.

nice...but HOW the Hell is a mute button gonna get wet that far
away from window ??
my gain know for the sub is "good'ed" up w/ silicon seal to prevent
coffee associated moisture mishaps
i live in <torrential down poor> houston...and my cheapo momentary
on radio shak mute button has never had an issue w/ rain related
moisture even getting in and out of the truck....just 'sayin
if there were EVER a problem a quick/LITE squirt of wd40 would dissipate
water & insulate the contacts in the future !
Ok, I hope this isn't a dumb question. But why have a stealth install if your detector can be detected by the Spectre? Is it just for theft or aesthetics?
Both i would assume. But i would just turn off my V1 when driving through VA and let my RedLine/9500ci do the job.
bushpilot, you don't have that issue in TX.
Barryswanson: Stealth is so LEO's wont see it if your pulled over, hidden from thieves, states where they are illegal, and its also for fun and a cool look.
Ditto, unless in a prohibited state or in a semi, stealth is for anti-theft AND so LEOs don't give you more grief or less consideration.
BUSHPILOT - I figure the mute/control button (removed from and wired out directly from the RAA) will be best mounted on top of/just in front of my shifter surround. It will sit there next to the traction control button, not under any lids or in any hidden well. Since it's a mute button and volume control (right under my right hand) I don't see any reason to add another mute button, say on the left or such, but just might. Thanks for the 10K ohm resistor info ...
actually i do...im originally FROM virginia, so thats the REAL reason for
the hidden display...i didnt want folks (traveling behind me @ nite) to
get a free ride and i NEVER want the cops in virginia to see the lights
either.
i have a power button to the detector under the dash/steering wheel...
if i were ever to get pulled over in virginia, i can reach down and turn
the V1 off (w/out EVER being seen or REACHING up to turn it off).
same idea w/ the mute button...when i mute it, no one sees my arm
move (another dead give away, for cops, to know your running a detector)
ive NEVER been "detected" w/ VG1 or VG2 (or anything else for that matter).
if i get an alert, i wait for a STRONG signal or long distance visual confirmation
of the LEO and then turn the detector OFF until im a reasonable distance
away...during this period im w/in the posted speed limit.
the MAIN unit is out of view (slight tint line) and hidden by the drivers side
visor, really the only thing that would raise a question would be the mute
button...but honest to god ive got so many switches gauges etc in my truck
i doubt anyone would even LOOK at the mute button.
sounds like a great install. re: the 10k ohm resistor...your welcome !
crack head thieves, tailgaters & its a MUCH nicer fit/finish (looks factory).
and i agree...if your speeding and you get pulled over you MIGHT get a ticket,
if the cop sees you have a detector 9 times outta 10 you WILL get a ticket.
