Thread: False Alerts

    Default False Alerts

I've been debating between getting the Rx65, X50, and V1. Exactly how bad are the false alerts on the V1? Are we talking every few minutes?

    Thanks for your help

    Default false alerts

    1) People have a misconception of false alerts vs real police radar.
Supermarket doors, etc run on the same freqs as police radar so realistically, they are not false alarms. Now, with the V-1 (as I have), if it encounters a true false alarm, 90% of the time, the "J" (junk) alert goes off. I have encountered this only a handful of times over the last upgrade a year or so ago.

I am very pleased with the sensitivity vs. selectivity on the V-1. You have the three logic modes. 90% of the time, mine is in the "L" (advanced logic mode)...and I love it!

Look at reviews. Get input regarding other detectors. Good luck!

If you need POP detection, the X-50 is probably not a good idea. The V1 works fine with POP enabled. I have not had the problems described for 3.825 and believe 3.826 is even better.

The RX65 is reputed to perform well with POP enabled and handles K-falses better as Autoscan in BELs affects K- band as well. Autosensitivity in Escorts only reduces X-Band falsing.

I am very happy with my V1. It's actually quieter than my Ebay RX 65 was. Yet, with the arrows it's also super easy to distinguish a false signal.

I have stated this before and I hate to beat this to death but in my opinion I don't beleive there are false alerts. Your RD is detecting something on a band and frequency used by police. That is what it is supposed to do. Your RD cannot distinguish a door opener or anything else from police radar. That's up to you. It is a shame that devices other than radar used the same frequencies. What your RD alerts you to may not be police but it sure is the same frequency used by police. Just be glad you get all those alerts. lol nuff said on my part.

    V1
I am not a current V1 owner, but I have seen all three in action. The V1 is the best RD I have seen. There are so many aspects to it that make this thing great!!!

The new update hase eliminated alot of problems people were having with falses. And the J out issue

Also The arrows are great to help to figure out falses from the CVS your driving by!!!
The bogey counter helps you identify how my officers are out there.
    multithreat display!!
    The tones are good!!!
The V1 is the best detector in my mind!!!

It depends on where you drive. If you're driving mainly highway or in rural areas, V1 is great. If you're in the city, it'll drive you nuts, because it's SO sensitive that it alerts to every door opener, traffic light sensor, etc. L mode helps but it's still hypersensitive especially in X band.

If you turn X off it's a lot better. But if you're in a place where X is used by LEOs, you'll have to put up with the "falses".

I wish V1 had City-LoX and City-NoX modes like the Belscorts. Then it would really be an ideal detector.

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

listen, i live in nyc and drive all around it. the v1 works fine. doesn't matter where you are. everyone has their opinion, but take it from me, i mean nyc is one of the biggest cities in this country, and if i can get my v1 to give me great usage here, then you can anywhere....(i should get a vest for this )

    you have to know
1)what radar the cops are using
2)how to program your v1 to accommodate that...

for example, in NY there is no X-band (at least not here in nyc) so i disabled that option on my v1 which greatly reduced false alerts.

you have to program your v1 if you want it to funtion in a city area or else it will go crazy as everyone else reports.
