v1 laser sensor, blinded by the sun, possibly? see this video where it fails to alert

On friday, I came on an ohio state trooper who could clearly be seen leaning out the window of his patrol car with a laser gun.

I cant guarantee he was pulling the trigger, but for how long I was in his line-of-sight, I would assume he was.

I got nothing, no warning.

Now, this is on an 09 silverado truck, with the v1 mounted high by the rear view mirror - away from typical aiming points.

Despite all that, I still feel like it should have alerted. Especially since V1 1.8 laser detection is supposed to be cutting edge.

I have had an alert from the v1 with laser (sorry this is a bad video), and Ive had my v1 3.872 in to v1 for them to test it out. They said it works fine.

50/50 that a radar detector (even a V1) will go off if the LEO targets low on the vehicle or the range is under 500'. Jammers are your only protection, even if the RD does go off the result is the same.

It's not uncommon especially on trucks. With my LTI Truspeed, I've tested my setup multiple times and sometimes the friend that I get to drive my vehicle tells me the V1 never went off.

I think your V1 is probably okay. It's not uncommon to miss laser hits aimed at your headlight/center mass, especially with a high mount like your setup.

My V1 is mounted next to the rear view mirror as well, and it has definitely not alerted to shots that my LI did pick up.

i think part of this might have to do with the high mount in the truck.

It goes off a higher percentage of the time when its in my corvette.
