Default Sent in V1 for repair- now TOO sensitive

I've had the same V1 for 10 years, always been a great detector and very reliable.

In the last 2 years or so, I thought that I noticed its K and KA detection ranges getting a little lower, but I chalked it up to the police using lower powered radar units. I'm still not sure that isn't the case.

However, it developed a problem recently (the laser alert got stuck 'on') and got sent in for repair. They didn't tell me if they tuned it up or not, but now it is TOO sensitive.

I drive the same 20 mile route twice a day so I know it very well.

I run the V1 in "little L" logic mode all the time and normally only get x Band alerts when I am in an intersection that uses an x band vehicle presence sensor. Now I get x band alerts all the time (and remember, I'm in little L mode) and what's worse, I get several more K band alerts than I used to. They are weak and they are near shopping areas where there are multiple x band door opener controls. I assume the V1 is either picking up harmonics (multiples of the x band signal) or is experiencing mixing (two x band signals adding to each other).

This sucks because, regardless of the x-band alerts (I have never seen any law enforcement using x band here in over 15 years of driving, so any that make it through the little L mode, I mostly ignore) I was always able to trust that the "BRAAP" alert for K band ,was 'the real deal'.

Now I can not be so sure. I guess I can get used to it and check my bogey counter when going through a known 'false-k-band-alert' area, but that's annoying.

Now it sounds like your V1 is now working right! Congrads! Now you can go to the V1 website and read on how to set the K band mute for city driving. I run the V1 in little l mode all the time with a low tab volume for weak X/K and then the main volume knob is set for the loud: strong X/strong K/Laser/all Ka with the program set with arrows 7 and b down. Again, congrads!

Agree w/NorthAlabama, do some heavy auto muting and all should be well. If X band is no threat to ya I would disable it to quiet down your V1.

Why'd you rule out K band door openers as possibilities of the false K's?

Thats whats great about the V1. The sensitivity is amazing, although it alerts to alot of falses.
Dont rule out K as a false. Use some judgment on the ramp up time and if it seems to be getting significantly stronger, slow down. Learn the V1 and youll be set.

Do the k-band muting and you'll be happier.
