    Default New V-1 $75 bucks

I must say I have to love the V-1 for this simple reason. I have had my V-1 since 2001 and the last upgrade I did is when they went to the New laser mod and the Slimmer case!

For a while I thought my V-1 was lacking in everything, well I sent it in for the POP upgrade and all the lastest stuff last Thursday. I called this morning to see where they were at. I talked to tech that looked at my unit before being updated for the above reason, since I did include a note stating my concerns----Sure enough he said it was WAY out of cal, X/K/KA were wacked he said  just what I thought.

We chatted for a bit and basically I get a NEW detector, he said they pull out everything and I get ALL new insides, the only original thing left is the Case----WOW brand new detector for $75 bucks, unreal if you ask me.

On the subject of my detector never letting me or anyone else know that there V-1 is out of cal and could be runing around falsely like ME  we got to talking and they are Hard at work coming up with an upgrade on the detector to include doing self test etc....to check everything out and alerting you to something is faulty, he didnt give a timeframe but that they are busting out self test/Cal for the V-1. Very nice conversation this morning

Wohoo! I had always hoped that they would do that. Hopefully it won't give us "service required" messages.

Better to know than not to know. Thanks for the heads up!

"service required" is how you know on Belscorts...

Otherwise you wouldn't know... Like Holla found out with his V1.

Good to see Valentine is trying to catch up to Bel/Escort in this feature.

    Alright, should have rephrased that.

I hope that they don't give us constant service required messages.

Service required sounds like a slogan on a novelty T-shirt.

Im highly impressed with how they update your detectors---I mean who else can you get a brand new detector from for 75 bucks after having it for 5 years?

He was saying that will probably be the next upgrade is the Self test capability feature. Much needed I think

He was telling me that when they fixed the "J"ing out on real KA, they just happened to gain extra range in KA as well--so we got an added bonus even though they were not looking for it--it just happened

Lets just hope it doesnt alert to "service required" like my old rx 65 did and it's was just out of the box. That detect lasted a month before it ended up on the foot path

I just hope that there are not a lot of V1 owners out there right now who are "way out of calibration" like Holla was...

Holla, is there anything else that you haven't told us yet? Like, the next version is going to double as a coffee warmer, but not on purpose?

The problem is they will never know.

On a more serious note: That is one of the main drawbacks of a detector trying to keep squeezing new features on an old platform...you can only do it for so long.
