Default Hardwire question for my new V1.

My V1 will be arriving tomorrow and i am going to hardwire it. I already have my Whistler 690 SE hardwired to the fuse box and to the Radio fuse. My question is can i just splice in to the wires from the Whistler? The Whistler will only be on to identify a Ka band frequency and then turn it off. I wonder if there would be any issues.

why would you even keep the Whistler if you are getting a v1? you think the Whistler is better at detecting Ka than the v1?

As long as current demand < supplied, you'll be ok, however I would rather tap into a different circuit. Another thing.. doesnt the Whistler emit Ka at startup? Or is it when you mess around with menu/settings? This could mess with the V1 while its alerting to a real signal. You'd be the first to supplement a V1 with a Whistler as I don't recall anyone here supplementing V1s with anything other than Belscort remotes.

I know when in the Menu mode it spews Ka band. Im going to run both some in the city just for kicks. I will turn everything off but Ka max and Ka band.

The positive wires of the V1 and Whistler sharing the same fuse as the radio will be fine like Dpatel01 stated unless the radio,V1 and Whistler being all on draw too much amperage. Worst cast is you will blow that fuse. In that case you will have to run the V1 on a different circuit.

I'd personally throw that Whistler in the trash.

That's a little harsh, but the Whistler would see limited duty.
