Got a v1, question on it

Bought a v1 off a car forum. Serial # says it's 1.8 and was made somewhere between 05-06. I'm trying to get to programming mode to check the software version but having difficulty. Whenever I hold in the knob and switch to "on" it just turns on automatically, there's no delay where the screen is blank for the few seconds.

Lastly when I do turn the unit on it shows a "p" then a "o" and goes to my mode. This wouldn't be pop correct? I figured it was programmer already by the "p" on startup but the "o" threw me off. I should've just gotten a new one but instead couldn't pass up on this unit cause of price. Live n learn.

Buying a used V1 is tricky. Call Valentine and explain the problem and check the serial number and make sure it was not stolen. Find out about getting the unit repaired (the cost). If I were you, I would get my money back if I could....

What are the last digits of the unit?

It's not stolen as I bought a hardwire kit and provided my serial and they said it wasn't a problem. Last 4 digits are 0817, I'll prolly send it in for a tune up of some sort.
