My first confession is that I'm a long time Escort man and wanted to give the V1 a try in one of my vehicles. I'm coming from a Redline and knew the bar would be set high for my expectations. After a few days I must admit that the V1 offers an impressive detector at an affordable price for something as feature packed as this. The false alerts are not as numerous in town as on some of my escort detectors and the auto mute feature with adjustable sound is really clever. I also appreciate that in the design, consideration was given to obsolescence and the prevention of it. So, here's the short list of good and bad imop...
The positives - LOVE the arrows, great detection/range, well thought out on placement of visual features. Love that you can adjust the sound for auto-mute. Bogey counter is an amazingly simple visual tool that should be standard on all detectors! Yep, its that good... Plus, the fact that you can upgrade your unit overtime is a great selling point. Easy to navigate the features. Most bang for your buck on what I consider the major players for detectors.
The negatives - Cheap plastic "feel" in both the unit and mounting hardware (windshield mount), need an easier way to turn on/off (my big hands make it difficult to do without resetting the mute volume control). Visual display is a little opaque and makes the numbers noticeably blurry. Packaging unit arrived in doesn't really allow for future storing of product as it was merely foam/cardboard box.
