Default V1 broken? Constant X band alarm

I've owned my V1 for about 5 years now, but recently it has started acting up. I get sporadic, front arrow, full strength, X band alarms. The alarm strength isn't gradual, it just goes straight from zero to full strength. It used to happen randomly - like in the garage and on the road. I would turn it off and on, and sometimes that would fix it, but today it just wouldn't stop. When it isn't going full blast X band alarm, it functions properly - going off at the usual places that I knew had radar around. I've never programmed it or anything. I just leave it in L mode. Is this a known issue and should I send it in for repair?

It's hard to say, I would send it in for a check up if you want to be safe, depending on where you live you may just be able to turn X band off completely.

I do recall reading other posts regarding similar issues. I would definitely send it in for a checkup. You don't want to be taking any chances of it screwing up on you while on the road.

Call them and explain the problem. They will direct you on sending the V1 in for repair. Two common problems are odd X band alarms and weak front Ka detection range. My old thick unit had to sent in twice, once for the front antenna and then the rear antenna X band alarms due to the micro diode not held in the clips good (temperature sensitive), fixed by useing a micro-scope to reset the leads and they did an update rev, all at no cost to me but shipping the V1 to them. A great service dept.......

My old Palm Treo would cause a low strength false.
