Am I supposed to get these K alerts?

Hi all-

I've been lurking for a while and was urged to post after a K band issue has been bugging me for a while. My V1 is version 3.872 and I've programmed it exactly as the stickied thread states, plus X and POP off. This was done right after I received my unit which was about two weeks ago.

Ever since then I've noticed some K alerts at 1 or 2 dots. I run big L mode - shouldn't I not see these alerts at all (until 4 dots)? Perhaps I am not quite understanding K band automute. I notice them mostly while driving past strip malls and on the highway (according to threads, traffic sensors here in Norcal). In regards to the strip malls, I don't think they are falses from other cars as I can repeatedly get the alerts going through the same spot in the same area; maybe they are falses from something else. I just double checked my programming and it's still the same as the sticky thread.

I'm a little sad one of my first posts here has to be questioning the V1 but besides this issue, it's a great device and has paid for itself already in just a few weeks of use. Hopefully this K band issue or my understanding of it can be cleared up and then I'll be good to go.

With K band auto mute turned on you will still be alerted to K band but depending on the setting that you selected,you will have muting for a certain duration and sound level adjusted by the volume lever. After that time you will get the volume set by main vol. And or your alert will unmute when it reaches 4 or 6 dots on display.

Ah ok, so provided I'm reading this correctly, each time I hear a K band alert, it's already been detected and muted / not shown for 30 seconds in big L (my mute time) and has unmuted itself?

If so, silly error on my part.

No,not silly at all. I had to read how to set the auto muting a couple times till I understood it myself and had what I wanted and then forgot to select small/large L for it to work lol

I don't use big "L" mode, but i do use little "l" mode with maximum time and strength muting (can still see the alerts and information with no noise). Now its as silent as my 9500's if i drive through town real fast.

Did some testing and digging through old threads and I think I finally got my setup cleaner and quieter. I flipped E and A down and on my way to and from my destination today, I only noticed one brief K alert at 6-7 lights that went away before I could hit mute.

E, F, and A don't get as much publicity as other options but I found out today they make some big differences.

Just don't put E and F down together, it does away with K band for the 30 seconds in Big L mode. One member uses E down (no > 4 LED I/O hit alarm) and G down (no rear K) but just F for a > than 6 LED ramp-up C/O alarm. Just alarms to up front greater than 6 LEDs ramp-up C/O and leaves out any I/O hits....
