You have the setting back-awk-wards. Little l is for both for city/highway and Big L is for city..... What arrows do you have down?..... Do you listen to loud music? Do you have the tab volume all the way counter clock wise (off)?....

I still think his V1 is broken after my experience today.

"I was driving down the street and my Redline went off on 24.202 full blast but my V1 (1.8) was completely silent as I passed the source (point blank) which was a speed road sign on the side of the road. I drove a little ways down the road and encountered a Harris county sheriff using K band and my V1 and Reline went off. Is my V1 broken? V1 one is set to little L. Redline is autoNoX"
It's not to complicated he had it in L which I don't think is ever a wise choice. At most run little l so that you can see the alerts. OP had it in big L faced a qt shot which may have not broken the 6 leds and got owned. Further more the unit is from ebay so I would have strongly considered a tune up after buying one on there.
Exactly, it's pretty plain to see that he was hit with weak, possibly off-axis I/O or Q/T K that the V1 most likely picked up, but muted completely because it never exceeded the thresholds that were set by options E & F in the K-band auto muting and was running in Big "L" mode. I guess there's a reason why Mike V has so many warnings and disclaimers in his programming guides to prevent these scenarios from happening.
To the OP, NEVER run in the logic modes on the open highway. These modes and auto-muting algorithims within them are exclusively intended for city environments; always switch back to "A" mode when you hit the open road. At the very least, keep the V1 in little "l" mode so that you can at least maintain full visual notifications of incoming alerts.
Running it "raw" means to run the V1 with the original, unaltered factory programming, meaning no auto-muting whatsoever. This is a must IMO for any new V1 owner so that they can fully understand how the various programming options affect performance.
HOWEVER, since this is a used eBay unit, we cannot rule out the possibility that this unit is out of tune or sluggish on various bands. I think most everyone on this forum will agree that you need to send this unit in for a tune-up ASAP. They only cost $45 and it will give you the peace of mind that your unit is performing up to spec on all bands.
If he was sitting in the median at night without some lights on this is illegal in GA. See this news letter from the State regarding this very action. There is legal precedent that they must be sitting so they can be seen day or night. The opinion from the State AG is that at night they must be sitting under a street light or have their parking or headlights on.

It depends on what the op had the setting on. I have never seen a close radar hit not take the V1 to a full scale after 16 years of usage. There are some very low powered units out there but a hit will make the V1 scream if proper used correctly. If he had G arrow down and a rear hit, possible no alarm at all. He may had the tab set all the way counter clockwise and not hear the alarm after muting the volume. Being in the Atlanta area, laser is everywhere and is used by everybody and being in traffic, laser again.....
