Default Bit of Help Installing My V1

Im having some trouble finding some tutorials on how to hardwire the V1 into my 1998 Volkswagen Golf GTI. I found out where my fuse box is, but I don't know what type of add-a-circuit to get.

Heres what my manual says my fuses are for, which one should I use and what type of fuse do you think it is?

    low beams - 10amps
    license plate light - 10
    windshield wipers -15
    fresh air fan - 30
    tail and side marker -10
rear window froster and mirror heating -20
    fog lights -15
    high beams - 10
    horn - 10
    backup lights - 10
    power roof - 15
    fuel pump - 20
    radiator fan - 30
    brake lights - 10
dome and luggage compartment lights, clock, power roof - 15
    radio -15

I want the v1 to turn on when I turn the key and off when I remove it, something to that effect.

    Thanks in advance.

I would guess it would be an ATC type but grab one and go to Pep Boys or the auto parts dealer of your choice. They will have a matching add-a-fuse for both sizes if it is the smaller ATM. I would use the radio fuse myself as you know that will turn off and on with the ignition. Then just find some nearby metal and screw the black or ground wire to it.

Thanks for the help. I figure ill just drive down to a car audio place and grab one, im sure one around here will sell one.

I work at Best Buy and will just get them to install the V1 and LI. I figure he can just tap a power source or whatever they do If they cant ill grab a add-a-circuit

Yup, just an add-a-circuit with the radio fuse is what I did. Just be sure that you get the right size.

Get it at any pep boys or auto store. Called Add on circut. It really does not matter which fuse you plug it into as long as its one that turns off when car is off.

Also just make sure when you take the fuse out of the car just put it in the add a circut, so the values remain the same. Just trail and error , you should not hurt anything, as long as you are using the correct values.

The closest slot to the car would be the one you removed to put the add a circut in , the other would be spec for the V1.

Make sure to bring one of your fuses into the store they will get you the right one.

i hardwired my redline to my vw passat. i would assume that the wiring is similar. i tied mine into my wipers. i chose them because they will not work when the car is off, the stock radio head unit can still turn on when the car is off so it would not work for me.
