Default V1 underrated for Laser performance- IT IS AN IMPORTANT FEAT

i hear over and over since the RD tests that the v1 is better with laser but that doesn't give it the notch b/c when you get lasered you are pretty much toast.

thats not true, yesterday i was driving home from work and probably the second time in 4 months i ran into a leo using a lidar gun. as i came over the hump in the hill i was going faster than the rest of traffic, 80 in a 50, and then i get a quick laser alert from the v1, scatter i presume. i then pull into the middle lane and slow down to 50 and then i get another laser alert, this time the leo probably clocking my speed. it was too late i had already slowed down. i drove by him as he kept on shooting incoming traffic paying no attention to me.

scatter doesn't happen 100% of the time and most of the time once you get a laser hit you are toast

there are certainly instances where the unparalleled laser detection of the V1 is gonna save your backside.

Laser reflecting off another car is also a good way to get a warning. That may have been what happened the first time your V1 lit up. I can't use a laser jammer in my home state, but having a RD with a laser warning that actually works is still a benefit as far as I'm concerned. I rarely get laser falses anyway, so it's just another working feature the V1 offers that the rest do not. The lesser brands claim to be able to detect laser, but according to the tests they fail to do so the majority of the time. Having a V1 in your vehicle is a no brainer if you live in a state where laser jammers are legal. The Belscorts etc. do not offer adequate laser protection and I wouldn't feel safe with one of those in my car.

Mine has saved me many times by picking up laser scatter and providing me with enough time to adjust my speed.

Of course it also alerted me to a ticket when I was the only car on the road at night and the cop was sitting in an unlit parking lot on the other side of the road.

If your car is the only one on the road you're probably toast unless the LEO is lazy or doesn't feel like you're going fast enough to want to chase you down. If there are other cars in front of you though, there is a chance that the laser will reflect or scatter in some way that will give you a warning before your vehicle is actually being targeted. That's the only way you'll come away unscathed.

sorry officer i was in a rush and lost track of what speed i was at...

crazy rob also has a good point, i wouldn't rely on it 100% but it does come in handy. if i was alone in traffic i would have been burnt toast  but ya gotta give it some credit :!:

i just checked this out, look at this video that Outrun posted showing the v1 picking up scatter. i doubt ANY of the other rd's can do this:

    http://www.radardetector.net/Laser-8228t.php

he didn't even need the jammer to know the leo was shooting laser because the v1's sensitivity to detecting laser is similar to that of the jammers (better than the other rd's).

in the second run you see that the rx-65 is busying falsing on what seems to be K band as the v1 is quiet, and then the rx-65 doesn't even alert to laser as the v1 does. underrated, VERY,
