    Default Thinking about V1

I'm currently on my 30 day test of the escort redline, but I'm curious to see what the V1 can do. Unfortunately, the highways around me are loaded with traffic monitoring radar. Does the v1 offer any kind of TSR, or am I stuck with an escort product?

Sorry, I am not up on all the RD lingo (I grasp RD, and RDD, and that's it).

If you mean a GPS lock-out or something, no.

I have a V1, it is my first detector. That being said I cannot imagine not knowing the direction of a threat. The difference is like this:

Hey man, there is a guy, and he is headed over here to beat you down for talking to his wife at the pop-corn stand.

    and

Hey man, the guy over in the bleachers in section "A" is headed over here to beat you down for talking to his wife at the pop-corn stand.

Give me the second wing-man at the ballgame ANY DAY!

Those drones will drive you NUTS with the V1 trust me on that one. Main reason why I sold off all of my V1'S and went with Belscort products

Hmm well that sucks. The arrows look like a pretty useful feature, and the increased responsiveness would be nice. Thankfully all of the LEOs around here are lazy and just use c/o most of the time!

Sure does for the V1. K-band muting for the traffic monitoring radar or speed sensors. I have to drive 70 miles daily with a speed sensor at 1 mile increments.

K-band muting on the V1 allow the weak signal from the sensors to arrive at your customized lower volume while keeping the arrows and no filtering it like Belscort does delaying response up to 2 seconds according to Veil Guy.

K band muting will help. It depends on how quiet you want your ride and how informed you want to be. The counters and arrows are a great help and the responsiveness is excellent but you will still get more falses. Escort did a good job of quieting the ride but it does leave you a bit more exposed to IO/QT.

I can’t drive without the arrows. When I put in an old Solo for testing, it was weird not to know what was where. Makes me very nervous. Most of the time my speed is well around the PSL so the info (arrows and alerts) is a good learning experience.

Do not get a V1 if you are covered with drones, it will drive in insane.
With drones, were not talking a false every once in a while, were talking non stop, every 30 seconds give or take.

Full K-band muting would obviously work perfectly to mask all drones in the area, but it also handicaps the V1 since options E & F would have to be disabled to make it work effectively, meaning that you'll rely on your time expiration to decide when it alerts you of simple C/O radar in the vicinity. You'll likely argue that this works just fine if you use a short timer, but many of us enjoy 30 second muting with E & F enabled for city driving; driving with 5 second muting with E & F disabled isn't exactly a great alternative.

VR could implement a very efficient form of TSR into the V1 by only applying it to the Logic Modes and only letting the computer filter the alerts in these modes when enabled. Obviously this will expose you to Q/T on K, but it's a worthy sacrifice for most commuters. Plus, if VR implemented it like I described, one could easily get rid of it by switching to "A" mode. They at least need to give consumers the choice of using a true TSR system rather than just half-a**ing it by muting all the alerts.

V1 already has Escort filtering for 3s minimum...in Logic mode or Big "L". Along with 7, b, c, d, e, and f down you'll same numbness as Belscort TSR.

At least with the V1 when it does finally alert the arrows will tell you the direction of the radar instead of beep-n-wonder with the others.
