    Default The V1 holdouts.

Hey fellow V1 users. I finally came to the conclusion that the V1 may not see many more days as the top dog, and in the future I may have to move on to a different RD.

I was wondering what will it take for you to make the switch from V1 to another RD?

If something better for me and my location comes out, I'll buy it when I get the money. What will exactly make it "better?" I have no idea, but it will eventually happen. The V1 is nice, but something will come out that will put it to shame; perhaps there already are better overall units out there. I've never used any high end Escorts, but I hear of many liking them much better than the Valentines.

Then again, who knows, maybe Valentine will come up with something new; although, I'm not holding my breath for that one.

Ka segmentation and RDR. It's as simple as that IMO. Once these features make their way into a M3 windshield detector such as the Redline or Sti-Driver, I'll sell my V1. The beastly Ka performance that would result from these features being added would trump any and all of the Valentine's current benefits. Sure, the arrows are great, but unstoppable Ka performance is better .

Ka segmentation and RDR do sound great, but I sure do love the arrows. I think I'm stuck with them for a while now, they're very helpful to me.

Stuck with them?? You make it sound so bad, lol. The arrows are fantastic to have to confirm that you've passed the source and it would be nice if every unit could have them, but the additional range and supercharged Ka performance of a segmented M3 would be far too tempting to pass up.

For me, it was the false alerts. They drove me nuts and I needed better filtering.

I still use the V1 though; just not as much as the passport.

Until I see arrows on another, and some ka segmentation, I think I'll hold to the V1...it seems to have stood the test of time as other detectors come and go... it will be eclipsed eventually, but 'til that day, I'm a hold out!

V1 has been saving me for 13 years now. Has yet to fail me. Now it may not be the best performing RD anymore, but I don't think radar technology has really improved drastically. The range of detection the V1 has only improved since then, definitely more than enough to give you time to slow down. Until some new radar comes out that changes this, I'll keep my V1. And fwiw, I was using a 2000'ish model (V. 2.8xx) V1 up until about a year ago, and I never got a speeding ticket.
