Buying a V1?

I think I'm going to buy a V1 via money order, so I have to wait like 2 weeks. I'm from upstate NY, now that locals are using I/O and I'll be travelling a bit more this summer, I think it's time.

Here's to hoping I get a job so I can recover from this $400 investment. :-)

Any suggestions and settings I should know besides what I listed below.

X - Off

POP - Off

Ka Guard - I'm debating, it's not like major highways I drive. Just state routes. I believe it gets more alert time w/ it off.

Mute settings - Probably going to run in A mode at all times anyways.

Ordered! Sent it out, and made a call to customer service already. They were friendly and prompt. I just told them my money order had one more # than I am allowed to enter, and if I should just write it in.

About 2 weeks til I'm a V1 owner!! :-)

I'm ready to start over new with a new RD. I think it will be a night/day difference going from M4 V995 to a V1. Agreed?

I just want to learn muting options, but A is the mode I'll probably run it in, so that doesn't come into play. Can someone give a brief explanation of the knob versus the lever? Volume vs. muting volume?

Congrats on the purchase. You will be happy.
I recommend that you run it on factory settings for 4-6 weeks to get used to it first.

Big knob is your high volume alert, concentric ring is your mute volume after you press big knob.

Thanks everyone! I'm getting antsy already. I don't want to wait 10 days for the money order to clear. Hopefully it clears quicker than that. :-) Any experience w/ check or money orders?

That is going to depend on where you travel. the m4 belscorts are not low end detectors. you'll have to wait and see, don't expect miracles though.
