Default Sent my V1 in again.

I have now had my V1 for 10 years. I have sent it in a few times over the years, false laser alerts from the rear now twice. A couple of other times for tune ups. I have NEVER been charged the $45 charge and they send it back quick through FedEx. I can't be the only one not being charged. I have never owned a product like this before. It has paid for itself over and over. I have driven over 500k miles with this thing and I must say, besides my jammer, one of the best investments I have ever made. Anyone else been this lucky?

Yes, I have never been charged for a repair, even on my old 1.7 version!

I have sent mine back a couple times for K band problems which they never corrected. After getting the $139 upgrade, it has been better than new! It would have been good if they told me about that option from the start. It would have saved me a lot of time and effort. It did give me an opportunity to checkout the Redline and 9500ix.

The Redline was returned due to it's horrible ramp up and lower lip that made it difficult to view when mounted high. I still use the 9500ix for around town and less serious driving.

BTW, no charge for the K band problems. No fix either.

Yelp, a few times. The old unit was sent in twice because the antenna diode did not stay in the clips and had to be reset under a microscope for both front and back which gave X band falses during warming up at different times. Updates were installed by them at those times with no charges. The 3.872 was sent in for delayed Ka alarms esp on 35.5 (which may have something to do with the programming of the Ka Guard). I always stated that I have been a long time user of the V1 along with the returned unit and never was charged with anything, that may have helped........

The price of doing business is expensive. Mr. Valentine charging $45.00 for service is not making money. He loses money by returning checks as he still must pay the techs a salary. He obviously cares about his customers. And I'm not related to him nor do I work for him !

I am guessing maybe they look at the case and if it looks near perfect they don't charge? Either way I'm not complaining. Just a note to anyone concerned about leaving your V1 in the car. I never take mine out. It's been baking in the car for countless summers and I have had an issue with the false laser alerts (rear) twice over my ten year ownership. Add a couple of tune ups in there and that's the only time I have had any issues. The last time I sent it back I kept the nice box and used it this time to send it in. All the other times I wrapped it in bubble wrap and always got back a nice foam padded box.

I have a 3.838 and am thinking about sending it for a second 'tune up'. I was not charged last time and the unit seemed to perform better. During the last 3K run this summer the V1 did not perform to expectations. So tune-up is enough, right, and no need to 'upgrade' since V1 is not seriously competing with the RL?

I would go with the tuneup. There will most likely be N/C for it. Upgrading from a 3.8XX to a 3.872 has not consistently proven to give you a more sensitive V1.
