Let me preface this by saying I like my V1. For the few days I've had it, I love the arrows. BUT, and this is a big one, I don't know when to trust it. I can deal with falses when there are one or two bogeys in the city, but my experience today opened my eyes to a serious weakness with the V1.
I was on an 8 lane highway today not in a particularly populated area, but there were a number of hotels/stores/gas stations around. Well my V1 goes crazy, the bogey counter reading 6 with X and K lit up and beeping like crazy with all the front and back arrows going at the same time. Well I had no idea if they were falses or what, and sure enough I see a trooper drive by in the midst of all this.
This isn't the first time my bogey counter has gone nuts.
I was running in little L mode with a 5 second K mute. My issue is that if I program the detector to be quieter, I would have missed that cop. If I don't program the detector to be quiet, I drive around with my unit going crazy with falses and I have to stay at PSL because I never know if it is a cop or not. And I'm not talking about in the city, I'm talking about in less dense areas where radar is being used actively.
I am a little disappointed with the unit in all honesty. I can live with falses, but what I am learning is that the V1 gives you too much information to the point that you can't cypher what threats are real and what are not.
Does anyone else have this problem, and how do you deal with it?
