Default Do dots on windshield reduce radar performance?

I noticed someone posted a RD mount photo and it was placed behind the dots near the rear view mirror. Does anyone know for sure if those dots decrease radar range? I know it would decrease laser warning but I don't care about that with my Blinders. I'd like to move my RD closer to my rear view mirror but I was concerned about the dots on the Ford Fusion's windshield. I tried paint stripper and the dots did not come off. The windshield is etched and filled in with the black material which doesn't appear to be paint.

I have had my V-1 mounted in or just below the dots above RVM for years and I have seen no decrease in sensitivity. Use a good RTV silicone gel for a solid mount on those suction cups!

Mount it just a Tab bit under the dots.

I have a 2010 Fusion and have not noticed a difference. In the F150 06' at work there was a little decrease.

I would just stick to right under the dots. Just to make sure. However I have never actually tested mine above the dots

904nm, not knowing the composition of the dots you will need to do a simple test. Go to a known radar source like a stationary speed sign emulating real police radar. Plug the V1 into the cigarette lighter. Also. make sure you’re far enough away not to dime out the V1 radar strength alert LED’s.

Now check the alert with the V1 behind the dots and then check the alert with the V1 outside the side window positioned horizontally facing the sign. See if there is any change in the number of radar strength alert LED’s showing, you’ve got your answer.

Excellent idea. There are a few speed signs close by. Will give it a try.

I drive a 2009 G8 and do notice about a 20% reduction in range on K band reception when mounting behind the dots. It's too bad because the V1 has a great visor mount.

904nm, if you have an overhead map light console in the headliner of your vehicle and based on the overhead dimensions I may have an interesting hardwire install for you. It will bypass using the suction cup mount for good, all it will take is the V1 visor clip.

I can send you a couple compressed pic’s of my install if interested.
