Some of you have seen the story of how I was shipped a damaged unit from V1 in the 3.891 thread. For those who have not, I wanted to share my experience as a 5th time return customer.
I ordered a new unit online 8-7-11 and received it Wed night 1800 PST. After opening and inspecting I noticed 3 cracks in the magnesium cover on the bottom of the unit. Since V1 was closed for the day I contacted them Thurs morning and explained the damage and was told no way did that unit leave from here in that condition. The woman I spoke with advised V1 does not make mistakes like that and was very defensive. I sent them pictures of the box and explained that I did not understand how damages this severe could occur during shipping and leave no creases or dents in the box. I was told to contact UPS and have them come do an inspection of the box, and that this was a process they had to go through in order to force UPS to cover damages.I explained I was a 5th time V1 return customer and this did not change her attitude one bit. I contacted UPS after speaking with V1 and was told someone would contact me to schedule a time for pick-up. Thursday went by and Friday morning I called UPS and was again advised someone will contact me today. Friday passed and Monday I called V1 back to advise the issue I was having with UPS. They told me that they would contact their UPS person and have them come out. UPS later called and told me someone would be out in the next 3 business days to pick up the unit, they were unable to provide a time or date the driver would pick it up. Tuesday night 8-16-11 UPS picked up the unit and took it to their inspection facility. They then returned it to V1 on Friday morning 8-19-11. When I had a tracking number from UPS I called V1 to advise it was on its way back to V1. I asked is there any way to expedite this process and even offered to buy a new unit and was told No you can not order another unit until this matter is cleared up. I told the lady at V1 I wanted to order a new unit and they could just refund me for the damaged unit, she got really defensive and said no thats not an option. V1 received my unit Friday morning 8-19-11. I contacted V1 Monday morning 8-22-11 and they advised that they did receive the unit back on Friday but have not had a chance to open the box. Hopefully later today we can take a look at it and we will give you a call as soon as we do. So $426 cleared my bank 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting for V1 to complete their process. To me this is no way to treat a customer, let alone a 5 time return customer. It happened to me so it can happen to anyone and thats why I posted this as a warning of how easily you can get caught up in V1's "process". I will let you all know how it turns out.
