    Default Ka Band Frequencies

This might be a really stupid question, anyways... How do some people tell which Ka frequency the leo is hitting you? I've seen people call them out 34.7, 34.72. 35.5 etc..

Not possible with the V1. Higher end belscorts can display the frequency. Would be a nice upgrade on the V2

They use a different brand of Radar Detector. Escort/bel/whistlers do it I do believe.

    Cool Re: Ka Band Frequencies

Wow, thanks for the quick responses! And yes I do agree that it would be a nice up. It would greatly help me out here in CA. We've got some pretty sneaky chippies...

Or you can tell by looking at the antenna. You can go to the radar mfg. websites and look at their Ka antennas. Often you can tell what brand the radar is by looking at the lens on the antenna and the color of the antenna body. Once you know the manufacturer you will know the frequency. MPH Ka radar operates on 33.8, Stalker on 34.7 and Kustom and Decatur on 35.5. If the antenna has ridges on it and the front lens is black, it's a Stalker. The older Stalkers had white lenses though.

It's easier to just use a high end BEL or Escort in spec or tech mode to determine the frequency.

^^^^X2. May I add that the white face cans (easy to see) are 33.8 MPH Industries, 35.5 Decatur Electronics and 35.5 Kustom Signals on the newer units sold in general and (aka Stalker) 34.7 Applied Electronics are black face. Everybody makes K band and MPH Python is the only X band still made. Of course MPH makes the pop mode in some of its units. Some of the older units can be black face or white face depending when made. If the horn is large, it is a old unit for antennas have gotten very small these days. If you detect the front and rear Ka radar on at the same time, it is the DSR-2 (black face) Stalker. This will give you some indication without looking into the Leos car but do learn what is in your area and to set your RD accordingly.....

O K, to add to this question, will the V1 pick up all these frequencies? They are said to have 34.7 in Knox county (TN) and my V1 didn't do anything the other night when I was ticketed. Just wondering what's going on.

Yes, the V1 will pick them all up. It is a radar detector, not a cop detector.

I use a V1 and a Whistler SE. I turn the Whistler on to identify the Ka source
