Unmute at 4 or 6 lights?
K-band wielding LEO's are rare in my area, about one encounter a year. Automatic K band doors are almost as common as traffic lights in my area. So I prefer less K band sensitivity to reduce falsing but still allow enough alert to a real Leo encounter.
I am thinking of running little l or L around town and setting unmute at 4 or 6 lights and automute to max 30 seconds. For those of you that use this setting do you feel unmute at 6 lights gives enough warning distance against a real Leo or should I use unmute at 4 lights?
Also if I set unmute at 4 or 6 lights and keep option G set to mute rear k-band, will rear k-band unmute at 4 or 6 lights or will it remain muted regardless of strength?
Thanks in advance guys.

Feel free to contact me if you need your setup tested and/or installed. I have Lidar gun's and radar guns for all radar US bands & freq's. I've been in this hobby since 1997 and have gathered quite a bit of experience since then. I will get you protected.

it's not Either/Or; they are independent
each setting represents a different type of encounter -----> Mastering K-band AutoMute
remember about [auto]mute:
small L = muted volume
iLBIG L = Silence

Maybe my wording was not clear. What I am asking is if I set it to unmute at 6 lights will that give me enough alert distance against a real LEO or should I set it to unmute at 4 lights to allow enough alert distance to slow to PSL before being in the capture range of the LEO.
Maybe I do not understand. I thought if you set it to unmute at 4 lights a weak signal that slowly increases would unmute when 4 lights is reached. No muting if initial signal is 4 lights or greater.
If I set it to remain muted at 4 lights but unmute at 6 lights a weak signal that grows to 6 lights would unmute correct? or of course if the time duration exceeds what I have set in b,c,d.

Re: Unmute at 4 or 6 lights?
Take minimalist approach.
Little "L" with 3s muting is probably what you have in the end. Going to have to experiment with different settings for your area for days or weeks at a time with one setting.
It can be confusing to understand but once you play with ther settings you get a better idea of what they do. Remember to take a minimalist approach so you don't over filter like Escort does and miss stuff.
Don't use Big "L" with muting.
You'll understand why the V1 has the best K-band muting. Plus you'll always have the arrows.

Re: Unmute at 4 or 6 lights?
I run a 30 second delay with the IO and CO overrides enabled, but with rear K-band muting enabled as well. Simply said, in the city I roll in 'logic' with the automute volume loud enough to just slightly hear it, and the unit is mounted in my LOS, so you can't miss the bright red display. When not in the city, jamming to some Led, or moving fast enough that any level of threat needs further consideration, I simply run in All Bogeys. It seems VR advises running in 'A' as much as possible, as you are least likely to miss something.

Re: Unmute at 4 or 6 lights?
Depends if the K band Leo uses I/O or not. E is 4 LEDs for I/O and F is 6 LEDs for C/O. If the Leo uses only C/O K band, you can put E arrow down for a quiter V1......... I do not like the Big L mode due to the fact that I am trained to head toward the brakes when the V1 alarms at the loud main volume (I/O trained in the little l mode). In the Big L mode, all weak strength alarms comes in at the loud volume setting and scares me. I hate a one volume RD, I like a 2 priority alarm RD, a notice priority and an emergency priority to prevent form spiking the brakes everytime the RD alarms.......

Re: Unmute at 4 or 6 lights?
One K encounter per year?
-Little "l" (so you can still see a weak alert)
-Unmute at 6 led's
-Rear K mute
Know your false K locations and when that arrow lights up anywhere else, pay attention.

Re: Unmute at 4 or 6 lights?
I use the max muting settings. 6 lights, 30 secs, mute rear K. I run in little L and I notice when my v1 lights up because I have the cd right next to my tach. In NJ I ran little L around town and A on the highway. I never had to worry about K because only two depts used it and I was rarely in that area. I only ever had one close call with not noticing the muting was muting C/O K but it alerted me in time. In PA now I usually dont use the V1 around town since locals do not have radar and on the highway my only threat is K so A mode at all times

Yea really one a year, almost better to turn off k band completely cause the odds of getting owned are like being struck with lightning. I think Buzz's set up is what will work best for my application. Bottom line like Norm sky says, gonna have to try out different settings to see what works best in my area.
I live in the same area as DJ. Have you ever seen a real k-band wielding Leo video from Dj?
