Just wanted to inform my ohio buddies that, after years of x-band followed by gradual implementation of harder-to-detect k band, Ka band is now here for OSP.
I detected it on I-80 today in the lorain area. An OSP unit was sitting stationary in the median using Ka band I/O.
He was in a new charger police car.
Traffic was light, but none-the-less, V1 detected him giving me about 1.2 miles warning from first I/O burst to passing his position. I got 3 total I/O bursts from the first alert to when I passed his position.
There was some slight curves in between.
Overall very impressed with V1's Ka band, which is generally more rare in ohio.
V3.873 being operated w/ TSR mode ON and Ka guard ON.
BTW, I ran into another OSP on the turnpike using laser (I think he was shooting away from me towards the other side of the highway, but a sign was reflecting it back at me causing multiple alerts).
Apparently it was a big day for radar:
Once in Michigan, I ran into 4 Michigan state patrol units using Ka. All seemed to be constant-on. 2 were mobile units and 2 were stationary. I only got about .5 miles warning from first alert until when I passed the mobile units (oncoming) and about 1.1 mile alert from the stationary units. Though I want to add one stationary unit was 45 degrees across the road.
