I kinda went the other way. I bought the V1 before I found this site because of word of mouth and asking some friends. It wasn't til after I found this site that I decided to try out a RX65 (from Roy, of course)instead of getting another V1 and sinking further into zombieism.
I saw a rd poll somewhere while browsing the threads and the majority of members here have a V1.
Maybe Mike V can be a site sponsor? I know on other forums, certain companies pay to have small banners linked to their sites. Maybe something like this could be incorperated on this site.
Before i purchased my escort x50 from ebay. BIG MISTAKE. I then sold it and wanted to get a better x50. I messaged Roy and he was willing to help me out from the ebay horror. Let me just say he is a GREAT guy. I was about to purchase my x50 blue from roy but until I joined this forum. The v1 forum had basically convinced me to to get a v1 for a returned unit price. So indeed the v1 forum gives a boost for VR in sales but i agree with all the guys and lets support ROY! I know i will be buying my blinder and veil and all other counter measures from him soon. Cheers to roy and support radarbusters.com!
Perhaps VR could give Roy a small finders fee in the form of a discount code to prospective V1 buyers who visit this forum. Do I feel bad for Roy? No way. What goes around comes around and I have no doubt that he benefits in other ways even though he doesn't sell V1's.
I've never bought from Radar Roy but I've read plenty of good things about him from those who've done business with him. Also he's not some uptight guy who is afraid to have other brands he doesn't sell get discussed on the site.
I would say this: in the world of radar detection manufacturers, Mike Valentine is the top... he takes a personal interest in what he sells and in making sure the customer is satisfied. You deal with VR and you deal with Mike V and his philosophy. And Radar Roy is the same thing only not in the manafacturing end, but in the sales and support end. Both Mike V and Radar Roy make the difference between their businesses just being businesses, or being an extension of the guy who runs them. That is a very good thing.
If VR ever sold their units through another channel, Radar Roy would be the kind of dealer they'd certainly want for the purpose. Personally I like the VR sales methodology the way it is, but if there was going to be even one outside supplier, Roy would have my vote.
Great Idea....... :wink:Originally Posted by Techhead

(Honestly did Mike think they were spies for Belscort? if so the following applies)...
Not to mention the fact that all anyone needs to do to get a "competitors secrets" if you will, is to simply buy one... take it apart and backwords engineer it.
With that said I really dont think you need to run THAT tight of a ship... I dont think he (Mike) has anything within the (current) V1 that people havent been able to find out by taking them apart for over a decade.
Unless of course VR is planning a major upgrade to the V1 in the near future they didnt want anyone to see?
