Ok.. so I had owned my first V1 for quite some time. Got in a bind, and sold it nearly what I paid from VR. Some time went passed, and I got the money up, and bought my second V1. When V 1.8 released, and the addition of the J "For Junk signal" came out as a new feature. This friday I am to buy my third V1, but if there was ever the greatest story, greatest save, or greatest experience V1 had ever given me it is this!
One late night running a quick contract job I so happened to have my cousin with me as we were replacing some 4U servers, and doing some cabling and we talked about RD's, and how his Whistler had done this and that. Prior to arriving at the data center V1 gave no detection as there was no threat (Dissapointing).
A programmer at the time I was typing up some old c++ , and running tests on the server we installed and things were working great. Meanwhile we had great nerd talk about how radar jamming works as he didnt have a clue, and although I had no direct answers to his question about how V1 can determine there are multiple cops. I simply said Multiplexxing etc.. using knowledge from being a radio freq tech I assumed how it all worked etcetra, and then he kept rambling about how far his whistler picked up etc... and how he only paid 100+$ for it, and how he would never pay the price of a V1. I looked at him and said "Dude.. I'm just going to say it out right.. that V1 out there in my car will pick up so got damn far it will blow your mind, and it throws rocks at your whistler bro... I'm serious once you see it for yourself youll never talk **** again". He thought it was just a fancied up detector with some arrows and duel antennas and explaining how I think the bogey counter worked.. he had it in his head all that meant nothing if it didnt have range detection.
So.. we finished up... the job was nicely done. Shot the emails off, went outside we loaded up in my car. (A Toyota Camry XLE at the time). We had a good long hours drive home and I was hoping to get some signal. Well.. we did .
Leaving the building area.. I got onto the major hwy stretch, and was doing 120mph as the hwy was just clear enough for this . A couple rabbits in distant front.. but nothing in the back. All of a suddenn Ennnt Ennt Entt ... I looked in my review mirrow as the arrow pointed to the rear, and he was looking backwards too. Oh my gosh miles back was head lights, and seconds later ENNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT BOGEY LOCK... I got goose bumps... he got me dead as hell I know he's coming after me. My cousin said what was that sound dude ?? I said "Bogey lock" he got us dude.. he Effing got us I'm going to get pulled over heck... but he was so far back there... I slowed down to about 80 quickly taking an access road to the right.. soon as I came up the ramp there was a stop light I was like fkkkk... at the corner of that stop light was a closed down lights out library.. I pulled into there.. turned off my car lights and car, and left the ignition key on V1 still alarming KA band my heart was beating of of my damn chest..... then the signal got louder and louder... then SURE ENOUGH to PD's zoomed up that on-ramp hit the lights blasted through the red light, and shot on through. We stood hiding our heads parked at that library, and V1 was still going off. We sat there a few mins heart racing, but my mind clicked. It was so far away he didnt know what my car looks like.. those two cops have no clue what my vehicle looked like or where we were he at this point cannot get me because I am un-identified. V1 churping every so often I pulled out of the library.
I pulled up to the 4 way where the acess road leads up to, and put my blinker on for a right turn.. the direction the PD's shot straight through.. my V1 making an occassional Ennt Ent Ent... I took the right turn, and about a quarter mile down was those two PD's with some innocent victim who's about to get a 120mph ticket in a 70mph zone.
Both me and my cousin quiet.. scared .. goose bumps up and down our arms.. heads froze and locked on those PD's and the victim who is out of their vehicle...as we passed them and V1 is just going nuts.... my cousin looked at me and said "Holy Fffff dude... that was our ticket dude"... then all we did was talk about that V1 incident the entire way home. To this day we still bring up that night.
It is my V1 memory for life, and until something better occurs it is my best save. However I havent won a T-shirt for this experience, but oh well.. the experience in itself is pay-off enough!
