    Default Ka false alert question

    Hey all,

I noticed the V1 is more susceptible to Ka false alerts than most Belscort units. I have gotten 2 false Ka alerts and both times I couldn't identify the source, although is it possible for someone to have an old leaky RD that would make the V1 scream? One time there was a pick-up behind me and as he passed me the side arrow lit up than the front. Perhaps he was an undercover officer, I guess my main question is, can the V1 still false with Ka guard on?

(It's not a big deal since it rarely happens, just wondering if this is normal, also both times my V1 did not J out the signal.)

    -Thanks

I never had a false with Guard ON. What you have to keep in mind too is that it doesn't mean that it is a false only because you can't see the source. The LEO could be on a side street or 2 miles away who knows.

V1's false Ka much more than Escort windshield mount detectors even with Ka guard on. Turn it off and it starts falsing nearly every big rig you pass. I found it completely unusable with Ka guard off.

I sold my last V1 because of the laser falsing though, which was just completely ridiculous. They need laser guard.

Ka Guard OFF on the latest version is awesome. I ran most of the upper half of the eastern seaboard this spring with only a few falses.

Yes it can still false and not J-out. A false is not a false, it is seeing a signal, therefore, not a false persay. Any RD will false persay when a signal is presented. You have to determine what is going on around you. Example, I run mostly with the Ka Guard off, and will see all Cobras. I was booking Eastward and was reaching a rise in the road when the V1 held a steady 4 LED Ka signal for 5 seconds, I braked but did not need to, just jumpy a little after beating 2 other I/Os. I met another auto within that time frame but did not see a RD in that auto thinking it was maybe a Cobra they had. The strange thing happened, the V1 fell quite when I met that auto. The V1 will usually hold the alarm a couple seconds afterwards passing a dirty Cobra, and also, the signal was not erratic nor changed in strength. Scratch my head! When I topped the rise and was over the other side, I met 4 autos with a Leo in that bunch. Then I knew the whole truth, no Cobra....

Pre .826 units would false some even with Ka guard on. After .826 the "J" feature worked very well. So to answers the question yes the V1 can still be fooled into a false Ka alert and yes the "J" may not come but once in a blue moon and we just had a blue moon (two full moons within one month) and my unit didn't false. Of course ka guard off and you will get ka everywhere.
All my bells 4x990 int 2x65 false on Ka band like a B!tch that's the reason why I don't have them now. My redline will false a lot @33.6 GHz but I still like it... god knows why? My .872 V1 is almost just spot on hardly every gives a bum stir.
MARAUDER, in my experience new units some to take some time to settle in/down 2-3weeks of normal driving not sure why. All my (3xV1) post .826 units did anyway just hang in there.
