I just posted in the intro forum, but wanted to do so here as well.
A local thief did me a favor and stole a Cobra that I had been using for the past year. I know, I know, but it actually did save me a couple of times on routes that I traveled regularly and where I knew the beeps inside and out. Anyway, I used the "opportunity" to do some serious research and upgrade.
I had three main state considerations in my choice. I live in Eastern PA and drive I-80 frequently as well as a lot of driving in NJ. The other consideration I have is that I very well may be moving to the Tampa Bay area within the upcoming year, where LIDAR appears to rule the road. My thought is that if this move comes to fruition I will add LI as a countermeasure. I see a lot of people seem to like this combo in that area.
I also just learned about and started using Waze.
So now I have to learn the V1. My plan is to run it in "A" in PA and on the NJ highway and switch to "little L" if it gets to be too much in NJ town areas.
What say ye? Is this the proper approach in my area? Are there any suggestions you have to aid the learning curve?
I'm happy to entertain programming suggestions, but am unlikely to implement them until I have a better understanding of both the unit and LEO techniques.
