I have a V1 that I bought new in 5/97 and swear by it for any long trips I do (which are few and far between now, but still). A while back, maybe 1-2 years ago, the forward arrow indicator stopped lighting...most of the time that is (there would be a rare occurence of it actually working but I don't remember the details nor do I think that has happened any time recently). Being an engineer, and not afraid to pull things apart, I've had it completely apart to see anything obviously wrong, of which I don't see anything obvious. I pushed and pulled on the board and areas checking for any obvious compromised solder connections and nothing. I read through all the posts here looking for anyone who might have replaced one of these LEDs, but it seems like everyone is only talking about the band or strength LEDs, not the arrow indicator LEDs, which are larger. Has anyone replaced one of these? What kind of LED is it? Is it difficult to desolder and resolder one in? I don't think I have the soldering skills to do this job, especially since it looks like one would have to desolder the many tiny connections of the entire front display board in order to remove it from the main section in order to get to the back of any of the LEDs? Anyway, I thought I'd post for any comments. I've actually grown to live with the nonfunctioning front arrow, since upon hearing the alert sound, if no arrow is lit, it is obviously the front. However, if the rear arrow LED would fail, then it would become an issue. And, no, I'm not interested in either buying a new one or even upgrading for the crazy $249 that the V1 website mentions. I appreciate any comments. TIA.
