I want to preface this with saying that I bought my V1 a few years ago second hand. I don't know the serial number but I'll check it out later. I've never returned it to Valentine for a firmware update or a tune (which I assume may be a good idea).
At any rate, riding in to work this morning on Route 33 westbound (limited access expressway, three westbound lanes, four eastbound lanes, Jersey barrier dividing directions).
I was traveling in the most left lane. V1 started detecting Ka. When it got to within visual range of LEO in far right shoulder of eastbound direction (facing me), strength maxed at about 4/8. Even as I passed the LEO, strength never passed 4/8.
After I passed LEO, arrow changed to rear and the strength went up to 8/8 for about a 1/4 past LEO.
So my question is whether or not this experience is normal or not. Was the rear horn in a better position because it had a better view the Ka frequency over the Jersey barrier or was it simply operating better?
Let me know your thoughts and if there is more information needed to get a better understanding.
