Default Valentine One - worst customer service experience ever

While they sell a quality product, they're customer service is by far the worst I've ever experienced.

To make a long story relatively short, I bought a new Valentine1 along with the SAVVY option (sold as the Grand Touring Package) that allows you to plug the V1 directly into the diagnostics port on the car. A few days after installing it, my car battery was dead. After searching around the web I found a number of postings from other users who had the same issue going back over nine months.

i immediately called Valentine and was told to ship it all back for a refund. Apparently it arrived 32 days after purchase and they called to inform me that only take back the SAVVY not the V1. I explained all about the battery in my brand new car being drained and they just didn't care. I also explained that I bought the Grand Touring Package, not individual components so their position just made no sense.

I asked to speak to the head of Customer Service - they refused to get on with me. I asked to speak to Mike Valentine who was not available - they asked me to call back the next day. When I called back, Mr. Valentine also refused to get on the phone with me. Not only that, but i was told that they would no longer sell me any products. Can you imagine a CEO who won't talk with a customer and threatens not to sell them products any longer.

Anyway - my credit card company took care of me and credited back the charge and I've noticed that Valentine One has now added a warning about SAVVY being incompatible with Mercedes and a few other car brands.

They may well make a good product but I will never buy another product from them and will chuckle to myself when I hear that they're no longer in business. I'd suggest you look elsewhere - they don't deserve your business.

Your info sounds pretty creditable. I hate to hear your problem took place. Sounds like you did nothing wrong but follow the directions.

I like their product but it seems to me when I call to ask questions it is like pulling teeth from my child. I don't get disrespected but the tone leaves me to wonder every time I talk to them on the phone. The disposition of the lady who always answers when I call is less than friendly. I am not even calling to complain...just to ask simple frickin questions about the V1 I own and upgrades that I have paid for....now totaling 2 upgrades. I just get my **** from them and hope that I don't ever get put in a position like you were in. So far my V1 has cost me approximately over $700 and with that one would think the lady who answers the phone would acquire a friendlier disposition.
If I was to base whether I was going to buy from them based on the way I am treated on the phone...I would certainly buy elsewhere but fortunately I am not.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and keep my expectations low.
I believe they will always be like this so there aint nothing I can do about it except wait for another vendor to introduce a directional detector...ie..one with arrows pointing where the signal is coming from. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I have a V1.

I agree with the original poster about the Valentine customer service. I sold my V1 on Ebay, and will be buying a GPS Passport.

This reminds me back in 2007 when HappyA$$ and I got together in Ohio and called Valentine asking if we could come down to meet them. Their response was "we will have you arrested if you come out here"

Seems like over the years, we're hearing more stories like this from/about V1 customer service. Great product, sucky customer service!!!

As to buying from them again. Just use a different credit card. Better yet, call LC at ER AND get a real RD like a Redline, the King of all Detectors!!!
