Default A Tip To Mike V... a possible J bug workaround...

Since I think its safe to say we're all a little skeptical of the "J"unk feature, I was thinking of ways it could still be implemented, but that we could trust.

Rather than totally dropping the signal report (even when there may still be Ka signal coming in) perhaps the V1 should give the J tone and display "J" but simply supress the Ka alert down to muted volume, that way the user can discern if it is indeed a real radar source. I would imagine leaky RDs would fairly quickly disappear. That or maybe tapping the "mute" knob could bring the Ka alert into muted volume and out of "unreported" state. Of course this behaviour should probably be another letter option, so that the old method can still be used, but I think, for now at least, it would build confidence until we can definitively see that real radar sources aren't "J"ed out.

Good idea, do you guys still think the J bug is an issue with the 3.826?

I posted a while back a story where I visually IDed the source of my Ka alert (FHP) and then the V1 Jed it out. I had to cycle power to get an alert again. That scared me enough that I cycle the power every time I get a J out now, and that gets annoying when it could be a possbile threat (and my V1+Ka experiences have all been extremely close calls which, in my opinion, is odd for the V1)

I too have had the v1 J out a real threat on me. An instant on KA attack that was in view up ahead.

I will say, that I have had it J out a TON of junky detectors, but it is a darn shame the bug still is in existance out there.

I would say just make the J feature optional

Since I disabled POP I have had no J alerts, real or false. I prefer that instead of wondering if its Junking out a real alert.

    Eh, it was user error.

1.) I knew jammers wont work behind other vehicles (very well)
2.) I shouldnt have been speeding in that kind of traffic anyways.

At least I got it dropped, I have been hit with laser a lot since then, still havnt lost my faith in the blinder.
