    Default V1 Direct Wire Issues

I've been having an issue for the past month now on my Valentine 1. It works perfectly when I use the power from the lighter to power it on. However, when I use my hardwired connection, it either doesn't power or it powers on and constantly resets itself. I used all the hardware that the V1 detector came with to hardwire it. It worked perfect for about 10 months. I cut off the vampire clips and used another method to clamp the power wire with Valentines wiring. It seems to work half the time now. The fuse looks good as well. So I'm thinking it's either the direct wire adapter that is causing the issue or for some reason the wire getting the power to isn't getting constant voltage. My question for you V1 hardwired owners out there is: Have you ever experienced this issue? I was going to ask if Valentine warranties their accessories but it may be too late for me since I cut off some wire to test fit something else.

If you cut wires you're pretty much screwed on warranty

You need a 4 pin RJ11 connector and must maintain polarity. Also, avoid cheap dollar store cords. The center 2 pins are + and -. I always mark the spring clip side with a marker when crimping on a new connector, which I do about yearly or so as they wear out. I remove my detector from the visor when parking to avoid theft.

An inexpensive crimper which strips the wire and then crimps works well. Done it dozens of times.

You may also have inadvertently shorted the wire during installation. If it rubs against sharp metal such can cause a grounding out and re-set.
