    Default Ka band distance discrepencies

just did a test on a 3yo v1 (new shape, s/w 3.739) vs a brand new v1 with POP etc against a Ka band mobile speed camera. It was on the same road for a period of time and I drove up past it a few times with the same speed and with no cars in front of me.

The odd thing is that the older model gave a warning furthur away from the camera than the newer one.

I was under the assumption that newer = better , with better distance? is there anything I can do to increase the detection range? I read that u can turn up the Ka sensitivity?? I checked and both models have option 5 on UP.

    any input/help appreciated. TIA

What's the rest of the software version? If you turn off the unit, push in the volume buttom and hold it in while you turn it on unitl all the lights come on and then release it. Push it again and it will tell you the software version....

I'm pretty sure w/ POP turned off, you can actually get a quicker acquisition time in certain areas.
Of course I could be wrong.....only Jimbonzzz knows for sure.

When the processor isn't busy checking POP frequencies all the time, the unit can do a cleaner, faster sweep??
I don't know, maybe I'm talking out of my a$$.
    It was just a suggestion.
