    Default Modify V1 concealed display?

I have my Concealed display mounted in my stock clock location on my 2005 WRX STi. The tint on the plexiglass is kind of dark, is it possible to modify the concealed display so that it will not dim. I know the main unit cannot be modified and has auto-dimming feature, but cant the concealed display be modified not to dim out.

I would also like to know if this is possible. If anyone knows anything about this, please chime in.

    Not true actually... http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...3487&start=150

    Read SPL15's post..."6.8Mohm resistor".

That plain black surface mount diode looking thing on the front of the unit behind a light pipe behind the red dot on the front is a photovoltiac cell that produces a 250mV to 700mV signal that is fed into a small A to D converter which is used for dimming purposes on the remote display. You can trick the display to thinking it is bright daylight by replacing this photocell with a 6.8 MEGAohm resistor.

If I remember correctly, my calculations said that 5.6MegaOHms was the correct value, but 6.8 is what I had in the lab in surface mount sizes.

Not difficult in my opinion. But basic soldering skills are required. Two soldering irons make it much easier, just use them like tweezers to remove the part
