    Default Valen-tone idea

Suppose I'm driving into a speed trap, get a strong lidar hit (6 LEDs) and my V1 goes off. If you're a mile behind me, you won't know about the speed trap until it happens to you.

But...what if my V1 could send out a friendly transmission alerting fellow V1 users that I've been shot with lidar at point blank range?

This Zombie Network would allow you to benefit from multiple Valentine V1's.

I don't know if a V1 could be made to transmit radio waves due to FCC laws. Maybe FRS band? It should be able to Xmit in infrared, though. Maybe 904nm? Maybe not.

So, instead of just a Bogey counter we could have a Zombie counter (or Friendly counter) to let us know how many other V1 users have been lased or zapped with radar.

I had a similar idea, where multiple RDs within a certain distance of one another can relay alerts to other RDs. They could use 802.11 (WiFi) on 2.4 GHz to transmit their data, I would think.

The only problem is with falses. Do you want all the detectors within a 1/2 mile radius being alerted of an Infiniti FX45 coming the other way?
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

There's only one "strength" of LIDAR hit on the V1, and that is full strength.

Also, someone already holds a patent on a system like you guys are talking about:

I like how their patent idea includes transmitting location. That would be great if we all had the detectors hooked up to a carputer with GPS navigation.
