    Default V1 settings in NJ?

I was driving through NJ the other day on I-80 and noticed alot of K and X falses. My guess is that these were probably automatic door openers, but I know NJ cops also use X. V1 was going off all the time! I even tried L and little L. So does this pretty much make the V1 useless when driving through NJ?

If you are alert Falses do not make a detector useless

In NJ i run 'A' and little 'L' around falses areas

Keep your eyes out of the car and look for shopping centers when you get falses. If I see a shopping center i use caution if not i continue on with the rest of traffic and maybe slow down as the strength raises

After Awhile you will figure out just by the strength alert and the growth of the strength if it's a real alert

Run in the big L  you will have enough i mean enough time to slow down if you come across a cop useing x band.

Since you have so many false alarms, I would use the V1 in the big L (pro-logic) setting. If you know to be in an area w/ a lot less falsing, use the little L (logic mode). And not to forget if you are in an area where it is open road and hardly any falsing, use the "A" mode. I hope this will be on assistance for you. Mk

I've come across more constant-on X-band troopers than instant-on, personally. They do exist and there are more than you think. I drive around NJ in little L and A. I used big L for awhile, but I don't mind getting false alerts (I don't believe in false alerts because the detector is doing it's job... it's picking up the frequency except it's just not an LEO).

What is the real difference between big (L) and little (l)?

Little L is like A but will mute the x band alert as long as it is weak. Big L, the computer chip in the V1 decides if the alert is legit before it alerts at all. I use big L when driving thru downtown areas. Highways are A. Everywhere else I use little l. I have my k band mute settings to mute for 30 seconds, stay muted at 4 dots, unmute 6 (or is it 7??) That makes a world of a difference.

I live waaaay down in the sticks in southern NJ. On Rte 55, troopers usually park in the grassy median and use instant on. 295 is both. Locally, troopers usually tend to use instant. I think they use constant just to get people to slow down without having to get out the car.

does not really matter tho in the city they usally wait to you are really close to them anyway i still say the v1 in big L mode if X false alerts are a problem in your area direct hits to a v1 on instant/on x still will pass thur the v1 is smart it will catch instant/on and it will alert.
