    Thanks.

I had it in the car then took it out because the suction cups kept losing their grip and the X/Kbands were killing me.

I have gotten the V1 C6 mirror mount, but wonder if it works okay?
Thinking of putting it on the passenger visor instead and using the remote.

    Any thoughts on that?

Hopefully that should give you an idea of the areas I travel.

I took a poll on detectors, and the V-1 was #1 and the escort 8500 was just behind so I went V-1.

I figured it was doors and security.

Just would like to have it a little more direct if possible.
well first you might wanna check out the "Speed Trap Info" section of the forums, great info. there that you might be interested in.

a list of what bands are used in what states is also there, here is the link:
    http://www.radardetector.net/List-of...e-U.S-589t.php

It seems that you do your driving in cali. So first and foremost I would disable X-band on the v1. The next thing you might want to do is turn K band automute options ON. This would leave it at a default 30 seconds automute time (if your using the latest v1 wihch is 3.826). Also another option which you want to have is for the v1 to "unmute k band at 4 led's," basically the v1 will go off for strong sources of K band, usually indicating leo. the beauty of the K band automute options is when in A mode they are disabled and the v1 works as normal. In little-l mode you will see the k band alert but wont hear it until its past 4 led's. And in Big-L mode you wont hear or see anything until its past 4 led's. So basically you can run it in big-L mode in the city areas and A or little-l mode when your away from annoying k band alerts. there's also laser in Cali so you might also want to grab some veil and lasershield which u can grab from Roy:
    http://www.radarbusters.com/products...eil-shield.asp

this will give you time to slow down depending on the vehicle you have. because when u get hit with laser your toast, this can buy you a few seconds giving you a little time to slow down.

with all those v1 options in place the v1 should be much quieter and hence much more efficient. and dont worry about setting automute K band options because as i said before, just put the v1 in A mode and those options are disabled. hope this helps, good luck

Thanks for the info. I just got a new Corvette C6 and it moves, so I have to watch my a**. It is really easy to get going even before switching gears.
On top of that, I picked Yellow as a color, so I am even more visable.
Not that I am a road maniac or anything, but sometimes you just go.

I have to try to figure out how to program it. Doesn't look to hard, but I don't want to turn off the wrong thing either and not know it.

I am in LA and haven't seen the VASCAR in the city, so if you know the areas, clue me in.

    Thanks

lex u might wanna order a remote display from lifespeed which has color band indicators. i think u can just buy it from him new with the modification so u dont have to buy it from VR then send it to him. Lifespeed actually lives on the west coast also so turn around time should be quick.

once you do this you should try to mount the v1 high so it can' be seen. i know you've had trouble with the suction cups but give them one more try. and be patient when your doing this. make sure the windshield is warm, not cold (i doubt it would be cold where u are anyway) and maybe even moisten them a little. when u get them on look inside them for any little airbubbles. if u see any try to squeeze them out of the suction, cause this is probably whats causing yours to fall down. if not try to see if the visor mount will work, pretty much if it can be positioned to hold the v1 level. once you do this, i would look for somewhere clever to place the remote display. there are a few other corvette drivers around here, i even think one of the GoL's friends has one with a v1. make another thread with corvette in the topic and that might attract them. the reason i suggest all this with the mounting and the display is because it would be difficult to look up to the side while driving to look at the v1, whereas you can have the display right by your gauges which would make life a whole lot easier. you dont want to be looking around at what your v1 says, such a pain in the ass.

pop? mike valentine himself explains it best...

and as far as vascar hotspots, i really dont know. ill tell u one thing, it will be on open roads. you will know the areas as long as u look out for the sign. i think by law they have to have a sign on the roads they use airborne VASCAR on. as for regular VASCAR, since cali has gotten Ka radar lately, i doubt you might run into it. best advice, keep your eyes wide open, and like many around here say, a RD doesn't substitute from your brain :!: (bascially slow down in areas where you can't see up ahead with terrain where a leo could be hiding, such as blind curves and hills.)

oh yeah 1 more thing, i heard jammers work sweet on those vets. wait for the GoL jammer testing (at the end of this month) and grab one of those as well as a CB radio as another member suggested. truckers have saved me from tickets time and time again, at times even blocking both lanes on a 2 lane highway so that i wont get nailed even when i didnt have a CB. at the speeds you'll be driving you'll definately need to add that to your arsenal.

I have the remote display from Valentine. Is there a better one?

    Thanks for all your help.

Still can't get the K band programmed as you discribed. Still pops up at every gas station and 7-11.

The suction trick worked. Placement is another concern in the Vette.
Can't put it in the sun visor. too high.
Under neither the rear view looks like it would be annoying.
Then trying to figure the cord placement too.

Thanks for you help. Valentine should give you free upgrades.

check that thread out. a member called Lifespeed does the mod. his real name is clay, drop him an email. what u do is send him your remote display, he mod's the colors and sends it back. for $40 + your shipping costs which shouldnt be too much since he's on the west coast too. its a big improvement and will make the v1 alot less confusing. ask anyone who has had it done, and read about those that have had it done in the thread, we are VERY satisfied. remember just the remote display not the unit itself.

as i stated in the other thread, you have to enable option 7 to turn the feature on. what you have been doing with the other options is configuring your k band automute settings rather than turning it on. well since u have it all configured to your likings, turning it on via option 7 is you next and last step at it.

as for the stealth install, hopefully someone will chime in with some info. also try doing a search, as other people have posted theirs installs.

Lex, if you need the X band active, besides filtering it, I found having the remote display mounted somewhere very close to your steering wheel so you can mute on the fly with your thumb or finger, makes those falses less annoying. Anytime you can quickly mute the drones and door openers is a good thing.

Hi Lex! I have a Corvette C6 too! I've been using a BEL for years however my V1 is arriving today! Are you on the Corvette Forum? They have a lot of suggestions for mounting the V1 in the C6...

BIG Dave, have you seen this thread which talked about "Great Lakes Trophies & Engraving" for Corvette mounting?
