I wouldn't think so. First...most vehicles have the tinted portion of the windshielf up there and second...it is difficult for the detector to be level with the road.
thank you for your opion.ya to put it level u have to adjust the visor angle so v1 is lev.there has to be a good thing snice they do make isor mount for the v1 any thoughts?also i dont think normal regular tint will effevt that much.
The visor mount was created for convience. When using one detector in multiple vehicles (ie. switching back and forth) the visor mount makes it much easier and less time consuming then using the traditional suction cup meathod. That is about it
I use the visor mounts for both the V1 and the RX-65. But, I don't mount them to the visor: I clip it directly to the vchicle headliner. On my Firebirds and on my girl's Sunfire, it couldn't work better: the detectors are mounted firm and perfectly level. I mount behind my tint strip, and they are very difficult to see from outside the vehicle: no telltale suction cups. They're also hard-wired.
But on other vehicles, this does not work so well. We tried it last weekend on happya$$'s Civic, and it didn't work. But maybe it will with a little customizing...

wonderfull profesor Jim.i just went to do a test with my v1 mountted on the visor and guess what i got a little better range this way i guess i night time i will do visor mount and in the day time i will use the suction cup mount snice day time sometimes i use the visor to block the sun light.
but why profesor is that when i mount the cup mounts right near the center winshelid on top of the review mirror i dont get the same range as i do useing the isor mount why? :?
I don't know for sure. Higher = more line-of-sight, but I wouldn't think the difference would be very noticable...Originally Posted by carlito
thanks profesor Jim YA you cant really tell a difference in range but it does help some gain  its good to expermeant both mounts i say the increase is like .1 mile more someting you cant really tell a difference in till you test with a radar gun then you start seeing from different ways.
i use the visor mount on mine. i just like it better. looks better, keeps it out of the sun all the time, cant really see it from the outside, etc etc. but i only use it cuz mines hardwired, if it wasnt then i would def use the window mount.
Mine is used in three vehicles, Expedition is windshield mount at dash level direct wire.
Peterbuilt is on dash with a rag over it lighter plug to loose it fast.
Caprice is direct wire visor mounted with a concealed display in the ash tray and this is my favorite mounting position which I used for ten years with the original Passport (21 years on the visor, Oh my God) as it is out of the sun, behind the tint (laser still works) mute button very close, very concealed LEO's don't even see it if you are pulled over, kind of looks like a garage door opener from behind, thieves don't see it unless they look hard, only draw back is the sun in your eyes but I have electric seats so I just raise it up all the way in the sun and look out the tint band. 8)
