Default V1 Stays, RX65 soon to be returned.

V1 is comparable to the RX65 when in Logic (cap L) mode plus has arrows, the best laser, includes the hardwire kit, won't be obsolete, etc.

It isn't an easy decision & if the RX65 didn't suck so bad at detecting laser it may not have gone this way, I was very happy with the rx65 but found myself wondering every time I passed a stationary leo & no alert from the 65 if I had been shot with a 904 nm pulse.

Anyway, as they said in return of the living dead: "send more medics" (LOL).

If you are getting a lot of laser traps then you should go with getting a jammer to alert you.
Why did you like the RX65 better aside from laser, arrows, hardware, upgrade?
One of the downsides to the 1.8 V1 is much more laser falsing but you probably don't know yet since you just got it but I think you picked the right one anyway.

The Bel's are simplier, if a direct radar threat exist, you will know about it. I can see the logic in a hard choice, but it was a valid choose, still nice to know a RD is not going to be silent with laser.

If Bel apaprently watches this board you would think they would address the laser issue, it would definitly bolster the decision to buy Bel.

But as noted the V1 will not lose value as it will never be obsolete and has real upgrades.

The display - specifically the tech display that shows 3 separate alerts (one of each k ka x, no multi) & individual levels. I also liked the voice alerts. The suction cup mount seemed easier too but I'm getting better with repetition.

I'm beginning to recognize the sounds - X band is a friendly beep, K is brap & Ka is brap brap, etc... I think I'll have to put some sort of visual indicator just to the right of Ka - maybe a small dab of hot glue for an immediate visual - as it is I know X is just to the left of the 'threat to side' arrow & it's difficult to gauge which band is going off. I think my small glue bump @ ka ought to speed up visual recognition.

I haven't had a laser false yet, I had several with the rx65 - somewhere around 5 or six in 2-3 weeks.

I test drove an X50 last year but have not tested a Bel since the late 80's personally I can't stand the tones like the bird tweets.
V1 uses the tones like the original Escort and Passport, clear and decisive.
Bel will no doubt adopt the laser circuitry of the STI in future high end units as it appears to copy the V1.7 except that Bel uses four diodes instead of V1.7's six diodes.
Both units have two diodes angled at 45 degrees.

X50 has that too, IMHO looking at how many bands and how much strength each one has is too much info in too short of time on too small of a screen I like the blinking band ID and arrow to prioritize for me.

Fortunately, BEL did away with the bird tweets! Those were annoying LOL!

You could never tell the difference between X and K band with the tweeting birds. K band had failed on my XKR700 but I didn't realize it for a few months because I was still picking up X band, which was more commonly used at the time. When I started passing speed trailers and motorcyle cops pointing their K band guns with no warning from my BEL, I started to get suspicious. It's a miracle I didn't get a ticket.

You will be very happy with your V1!

shipped the bel back yesterday. it was a damn fine detector but the arrows on the v1 were just too good to pass up - plus only an extra $60 to get the detector I've wanted ever since I could drive which is still kicking everyone's a55. I have yet to be hit with lidar but if I had the rx65 I'd have to assume I just wasn't picking it up; even though I may get tagged, at least I'll be able to observe their patterns.

Think you made an excellent choice Eddie. I would only call you crazy if you sent the Bel back.
