Definitely, they are the first to have a really good opensource RD, and with YaV1 it puts all other RD's to shame if your tech savvy enough to utilize all the features.

    It does, indeed.

Have you finally ditched your Max for the V1C/YAV1?

I think that's where I am heading, myself. Especially since I am beginning to see these new lasers in the wild that the Max can't see. The Redline does a good job with 'em, fortunately, but the V1 is in a class all of its own (and always has been).

Not yet, i have not decided if the V1 with V1C and YaV1 is better then the Max for me. Range is about the same, lock outs work on both so its not that easy.

My guess is it will be the V1/V1C/YaV1 since i don't mind the extras to make the V1 what the Max already is but with the addition of arrows and the YaV1 that is extremely customizable, plus Waze works great with the YaV1 app due to the over lay display.

    Great overall assessment, CJ!

You know the experiences that I have had with the Max, the shortcomings of the marketing claims, QA issues, etc. However now that Escort, at least, ostensibly will once again re-direct its attention and focus on building the best detectors possible (something we know they can do), I am hopeful that the new back-end (once evolved) is the real gem of the product and not the particular instance of the product itself. Escort thinks they ultimately have a winner with that new "platform." I think a good bit of the reasons for the misses with the Max was because JL infected the process towards one of general consumer electronics development. The Max feels like a consumer electronics piece, not a high-end detector. So as I indicated in my review, if a stable software/proven back-end continued to be refined is repackaged like something in a Magnum/Driver/Redline case (vault-like) even with an M3 front-end, packaged accordingly (like the original Driver), with excellent QA, I think they could have a world-beater.

Perhaps that's the real-take away from the Max.

I can only hope this is true (I think it is).

Good, 3.893 is gone. Get a remaining euro 3.894 or wait for VR to release the kraken.

I'm waiting, I've wanted a v1 for a long time, I love the STi-R, but the V1 with YaV1 is very tempting to lock out K falses and then I could just turn K off on the STi-R, plus I'd have a portable RD for when I rent a car or something. If v1 has more up their sleeve, I'm ready for it, shut up and take my money
