Given the choice of clear vs G4, I'd probably take clear...but the G4 is certainly better than the previous generation.

Sadly, I will never buy anything that isn't clear over my headlights.

I like my HID's...

Interestingly enough...I think it's safe to say that ppl who drive cars with HID generally drive more "recent" cars (unless modded of course), and would spend more $$ to stay away from LEO's.

I don't see a guy driving a 1995 corolla with halogens to buy a $100 bottle of veil...

I'm not trying to stereotype here, but with a $100 can, I think it would be better to market to a niche who spends more $$ on their cars...ppl who drive cars with HID ...MAY spend more $$.

By making a non-clear product, VEIL may have singlehandedly killed that niche...

Just my 2 cents....AGAIN: NOT trying to exclude or make anyone feel bad, just saying....

I drive a 1996 Civic and I bought Veil. Now I don't have halogens but still... I like the way veil looks. And I like not getting tickets more than how my car looks.

Call me ricer, call me whatever, I have done absolutely nothing performance wise to my car. No straight exhaust, no nothing.

Ok, I plan to do an h22a engine swap, but that is just because my car is an unbearable 97 hp to the wheels.

Ovencleaner,

You actually do have halogen headlamps, as do most cars.

Newer luxury cars are the ones with HID (High intensity discharge) headlamps.

I agree though that I would probably buy veil if it was clear, as I HID headlights as well.

Halogens are the ones not affected as much by veil, correct? HID's are what become dimmer.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Well whenever you put some sort of tint over the headlights you are giong to diminish the number of lumens that get on the road.

So both types of headlights would become dimmer. I assumingly that veil wouldn't effect this too drastically though. Still people buy HID headlights because of the amount of lumens they produce (I know I did) to light up the road and won't want to dimish the lightoutput.

For myself, the formula is-

Clear = STEALTH

...and putting something on my headlights that could attract the wrong kind of attention or even an additional fine if stopped is definitely not something I would consider purchasing.

That said, if I had some GTS headlight covers that can be removed, then I would have them dipped in the new stuff. But at night, I'd be screwed unless I managed to get a can of the old stuff.

Taillights I might consider directly applying it to.

IMHO, creating a tinted/colored product to sell to the youth market isn't a bad idea, but I would still offer it in clear for the rest of us that don't drive around with huge wings on the backs of front wheel drive cars.

^ +1.

Be careful, though - "tinting" on tail-lights can, depending on your local enforcement attitudes (not to mention laws), be problematic on that level, too.

Thanks to a local hobbyist, I've recently found out that there is no "red-by-sight" laws in my local area - however, I know of no less than three cases, over the last 4 years, in which my personal friends and acquaintances have been pulled-over and given "fix-it-tickets" for both aftermarket and, get this, even FACTORY "cleared" tail-lights.

By logic, this would extend to "tinting" tail-light housings as well, and it is a reason why my own tail-light modifications do give mind to this concern, as my own preference is to avoid a pull-over (which wastes my time - which is more valuable to me than money), in the first place.

----

FWIW, I do believe that The VEIL Guy is bringing us a good product - a product that works as-advertised as point-defense and, in this next-generation, looks better, aesthetically.

I think that there must be some other reason why it remains so tinted.

But if this is not the case, then I also will make the plea for a "clear" model.

Regardless, I will take The VEIL Guy at his word, on this new generation of VEIL, in that while appearing dark and shifting lighting output color towards the blue end of the spectrum, that it actually impacts light output less so than with the previous version.

Hopefully, this, combined with my use of slightly-overwattage (but still distinctly traditional halogen "colored") bulbs, will allow me to circumvent any undue scrutiny, particularly with the numerous vehicles in my area that are factory-HID equipped.

I don't know. I rather like the cool dark orange color of the new Veil G4. It should look great on the headlamps of my soft gold colored car.
