You should have shot it without tape and with tape. Then it would mean something. The tape works. All we are doing is buying a second. and that is what the tape provides. There are many videos on the interweb showing how the tape dulls the reflection significantly. Of course it doesn't black it out. But dulls it enough to buy you that second. But thanks for the video. We all are trying to buy that all important second and I have satisfied myself with a real world test that the tape will buy you that second on the front plate....which as you know is the primary target
I am merely saying that the Laser Shield clearly provides much better protection.
When Steve and I shot those videos, I had no idea as to what to expect and Steve actually saw things before I did, since I was in total darkness at the time.
We didn't set out to "myth-bust" the tape idea, it just ended up that way.

Veil Guy
10 points for using the term mythbust

So was that LS only, or Veil and LS combo? In the vid it sounded like both, but in the above reply, it was only LS?

On the vids, Steve's vehicles had the LS with Veil G2 on them and the one I used in that video was the LS with a very very light coating of Veil G4.
Next time Steve and I get together we'll experiment with more combinations to actually see how everything stacks up to one another as we didn't set-up to explore this issue.
We were both quite surprised when it turned out that way.
VG,
Now you have gone and confused an old man. Shame on you!
I thought your post ( first with the video) said here is what 3M tape looks like under IR....now I am understanding it was LS?
And for the record I have the tape under the LS. The combination of LS/Tape is very stealth.....does not draw attention....passes the "five foot inspection"....
The video does show the 3M tape's actual "performance" in the IR. In the latter part of the video, Steve had a great idea...to directly compare (by placing) the Laser Shield on top of the plate for a comparison.
On the other videos of the series (both Steve's and his wife's SUV) already had the LS/Veil combo installed and one can easily see how much darker in the IR they appear compared to the 3M tape.
Glad to hear you are using the LS in your passive solution...it really is a terrific product!
LOL....I get it now....I appreciate your contributions to the effort. You know I was asked by my buddy ( The Sheriff) why I even have radar detectors/Tape/LS etc. and I told him I had the right to know when I was being "searched/watched" and he said that was the best answer he had ever gotten And I do believe we have the right to know when we are under surveillance. So I appreciate your efforts.
Maybe we should send the candidates a radar detector and a can of Veil
I can see the Presidential Debate now...
"What is your position on the citizens right to have and operate radar/laser detectors?"
Talk about deer in the headlights.....
